A fourth grade class was given an assignment to write an essay on a topic of concern to them and send it to a person in authority. Unfortunately, for one student who sent his Republican representative a letter asking to restore the deduction for electric vehicles that Trump had terminated it went very badly. His GOP legislator is Virginia Foxx and she is a complete cunt — desperately in need of a chainsaw enema! She excoriated the boy's proposal and accused him of being indoctrinated by his teacher's liberal propaganda. Then this evil bitch had the temerity to send him a bunch of bullshit conservative propaganda replete with lies about green energy and promoting the petroleum industry.

A North Carolina mom shared a “horrific letter” that she says North Carolina Rep. Virginia Foxx wrote in response to her 10-year-old son’s homework assignment.

The fourth grader wrote a “persuasive essay” for class on the benefits of electric cars, making the case that the government should consider tax rebates for people who buy new electric cars, his mother Emily Mango explained on Instagram on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

He then decided to mail the essay to Foxx, 82, in a school envelope that indicated his grade, Mango said, noting it was “clearly” written by a child.

Mango said the lengthy response her son got back from Foxx, dated May 1, had a “disrespectful, hostile, and unkind tone.”

In Foxx's email to Mango's son, she thanked the boy for his letter and said that while she appreciated him “taking the time to share your thoughts,” she disagreed with his proposal.

“What many folks do not realize is that the money that ‘comes from’ the federal government actually comes from ordinary citizens who pay taxes to support that government,” Foxx wrote. “Therefore, your request that ‘the federal government should give a $5,000 tax rebate for all new electric car purchases’ means that the federal government must take that money out of the pockets of hardworking people who may not have the means to buy an electric vehicle in the first place.”

She then cited six articles from the Wall Street Journal, Fox News, National Review and The Washington Times “about the disastrous record of polices enacted to address ‘climate change’ for your perusal.”

Two of the six articles about climate change that Foxx cited were editorials by the Journal’s editorial board, which reflect the political perspective of owner Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire conservative media mogul and ally of President Donald Trump. Another was an October 2025 opinion piece by Steve Goreham, an activist who has authored books that argue against the scientific consensus that climate change is being caused by humans and gives speeches to oil and gas industry executives.

Foxx told the 10-year-old that “YOU and your classmates will be responsible” for paying down the national debt, which she wrote was a much more pressing crisis than climate change.

“Incidentally, please ask your teacher to explain propaganda to you,” Foxx added. “While I will never be able to know, my guess is that your teachers will not give you a good educational experience and help you learn to think as they are too interested in indoctrinating you. How sad.”

Mango posted screenshots of Foxx's reply to her Instagram on Saturday, saying, “Imagine being a 10 year old and receiving this demoralizing and reprehensible response from NC Representative Virginia Foxx to your persuasive essay on the benefits of electric vehicles and why the government should consider giving a tax rebate to people who purchase new EVs.”

“He researched, cited facts, and made good arguments in his essay— an essay that had nothing to do with politics,” the mother continued. “He was proud of his essay.”

Neither Mango nor Foxx immediately responded to requests for comment from PEOPLE.

In a follow-up post on Monday, May 11, Mango said that Foxx’s response “crossed a line when you attacked a child and attacked teachers,” adding that the 10-term congresswoman doesn’t “deserve to be on a Committee for Education when you talk to children like this and think so lowly of teachers.”

“No wonder NC is 50th in education funding level under your ‘leadership,’ ” Mango wrote. “We have amazing teachers who are lifelines for these kids, and teachers don’t deserve the contempt and disrespect you have shown.”

Mango — who worked in real estate investment in the Greensboro, N.C., area until retiring last year, according to her LinkedIn — cited issues at a local high school as more important for Foxx to focus on than belittling a fourth grader.

“Look at how last year Page High School parents had to petition the school board for funding to replace HVAC so we could heat classrooms and stop cancelling school due to no heat,” Mango wrote. “Page is a Title I school in your District 5 area with between 70% - 80% of kids on free lunch. What have you done to help Page?”

Foxx was first elected in 2004. Last year, she announced she plans to seek reelection in 2026 with Trump’s endorsement as House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., attempts to preserve his majority.

In her House biography, she boasts of being ranked “as one of the most conservative members of the North Carolina Congressional Delegation.” She chairs the influential Rules Committee, helping set the agenda of the House each time they meet.

Before entering politics, Foxx earned a Ed.D. in curriculum and teaching/higher education from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. She taught at a local community college and Appalachian State University, ultimately becoming an assistant dean for the latter institution. She later became president of Mayland Community College in Spruce Pine, N.C.
