the right wing media sphere politicized the use of masks so completely that wearing one now opens you up to uninvited questions, commentary and even dirty looks. I still wear one any time I'm indoors outside of my home but the overwhelming rhetoric around mask wearing has obviously taken a toll on most peoples' willingness to wear one.

It wasn't just Fox and Friends politicizing masks. In 2021, Joe Biden told the nation "the vaccinated can take off their masks." He said this with no scientific assurance. He said this while a massive team kept those unmasked away from him and mandated testing before approaching him. He said this with millions of dollars of air filtration and HVAC equipment pumping literal tons of clean air directly onto him. Liberals and far too many leftists took him at his word. Blaming only republicans misses the biggest and most harmful part of the equation in my opinion. You're missing the part where the people who understand why you mask start thinking you're an unvaccinated loon for wearing a mask, even as their vaccines lapse and their health worsens. Biden created and pushed the narrative that masks were *no longer necessary* to those who were unreceptive to right-wing rhetoric, and we shouldn't forget nor forgive.

A large part of the reason families were bigger in the past was because marital rape was not considered rape and birth control/abortion methods were ineffective, dangerous and/or illegal. We can dance around this and act like our great great great grandmothers just loveddddd being mamas so much that they decided out of their own free will to have 11 children. We can pretend that they DECIDED to have big families because it was a financially advantageous decision so they could have more labor around the farm. But a lot of children in the past were fundamentally unwanted and not conceived out of love, children were not a choice women got to make. We need to admit that and stop pretending historical women were inherently more maternal because they were impregnated at the age of 15 and kept having babies until they were 40. That did not make them loving mothers, it did not make them ‘the divine feminine’ and it sure did not make them happy.
