Love is all

During the (my) holiday season, I wanted to take take a few minutes to say thank you to everyone who makes and/or has made my fandom experience – and even life – something I enjoy so much. Fandom can be a hard place sometimes (especially when it feels like you don’t know your place, exactly) but it can also be a place that welcomes you and nourishes you in ways you didn’t even know you needed. Fandom accepts everyone and for that, if nothing else, I’ll always be grateful for. So… please forgive my sap for a few minutes. 😘

I was tagged by @magpiefngrl to take part in @l0vegl0wsinthedark’s Draw Drarry Badly Challenge! Because I’m a rule-flouting Gryffindor, I made Bad Drarry Paper Art instead, inspired by the fic Slip Into My Lover’s Hands by @lqtraintracks.

I think you know my personal opinion on Brexit, Theresa. However, keep in mind that even magic cannot fix your politics. Whatever your predecessor may or may not have told you about the Ministry of Magic, going back in time to change the outcome of the referendum is not up for discussion.

We are so excited to be here! We know what a special place hd_erised holds in this wonderful fandom of ours, and we’ve been avid fans since its inception. In past years we’ve both had a fantastic time participating as enthusiastic writers, readers, and commenters, and when circumstances changed for the mods we volunteered in order to make sure that Erised could continue on as this phenomenal community that’s meant so much to all of us. 

We’re so thankful to @capipuff, @sassy-cissa, and @gracerene09 — and to @faith2wood, @marguerite26 and melusinahp before them — for building this fest into such a spectacular celebration of H/D love. Erised wouldn’t be what it is without their love and dedication, and we truly can’t thank them enough! We’re grateful, too, that the outgoing mod team is willing to let us keep it going, and that @gracerene09 will be staying on to help make sure that the transition is easy and smooth. 

As your new mods, we are delighted and honored to have the opportunity to see Erised through its sixth year. We hope that you’ll all be right here with us, to make Erised just as wonderful as it has always been in years past. We’re coming to it with bucketloads of excitement and dedication, and hope that you’ll bring all of the energy, enthusiasm, squeefulness, and creativity that make Erised so fantastic!

After all, that’s what makes Erised what it is — your passion, imagination, and dedication to this amazing community and fantabulous ship!!

Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we announce this year’s timeline and guidelines and get things rolling. For now, we can tell you that the timeline and guidelines will closely mirror past years, with sign-ups slated for early August, and that more info will follow soon. So… in light of that travesty, I thought I’d give us all the reaction Ron deserved… when he found out Harry was already dead… because Harry didn’t tell him he was going… because he knew Ron would do everything in his power to stop him!!! *puts down megaphone and steps off soap box*

 "NO!“ The scream was the more terrible because he had never expected or dreamed that Professor McGonagall could make such a sound.

"Harry! HARRY!” Ron’s, Hermione’s, and Ginny’s voices were worse than McGonagall’s.

Harry wanted nothing more than to call back, yet he made himself lie silent.

Their cries acted like a trigger; the crowd of survivors took up the cause, screaming and yelling abuse at the Death Eathers…

“… Set him down, Hagrid, at my feet, where he belongs!“ Harry felt himself lowered onto the grass. 

"You see?” said Voldemort, and Harry felt him striding backward and forward right beside the place where he lay. "Harry Potter is dead! Do you understand now, deluded ones?” 

“… He was nothing, ever, but a boy who relied on others to sacrifice themselves for him!"
