One thing I hate about this website
is that no one uses it the way it lends itself to being used.
Say someone reblogs your post and adds something that you don’t like. Maybe it was irrelevant, maybe it was truly offensive, whatever. It won’t appear on your blog. Your followers won’t see it.
But when you reblog that version of the post to argue or complain, YOU’RE the one putting it on your blog!!! You didn’t have to do that!!!!!!!!!!!!
When you reblog a post, it creates a new post, leaving the original post intact. This is a great feature of tumblr that I wish people appreciated more. We’d all be freer. Free to make silly little comments on posts, and free from the need to ‘guard’ our posts from undesirable additions.
Sometimes someone else’s post is the perfect springboard for something you wanted to say - why bother making your own post from scratch?
I will never tell you off for ‘derailing’ my post instead of making your own. As far as I’m concerned, that IS your own post. And if it’s a shitty post, I’ll treat it like any other shitty post, and not reblog. Likewise, if you hate what I’ve added to your post, don’t reblog it!!!
