that conversation max and Eleanor have in s4 when Eleanor says that she was so close to running away with max in s1, and max asks what would have been enough? these two scenes are holding hands.

I think max asks this partly bc this was obviously one of the most significant turning points in her character arc, but also bc it could have easily been her and Anne having the same conversation, only with the roles reversed. Eleanor says "I had put so much of myself into this place, in that moment, I honestly didn't know where I ended and it began" and we hear echoes of Max's explanation to Anne about what home means to her in s3. max asks what would have been enough bc she genuinely isn't sure herself. but then, by the end of the season, she answers the question for herself.
