wish literally any gay papers would talk about lil nas x cause every article is either written with contempt OR makes sweeping assumptions by only quoting the cops and blatantly lies about things they contradict in their own article. like how is there no coverage of support or efforts to keep an eye on his location?
shortest possible story is that he he got arrested and hospitalized after walking around outside at night, MAYBE having 'an episode', MAYBE he was drunk, maybe he was high, maybe he was just being loud, who knows. Dude was outside at night in boxers and cowboy boots and that's all he did to "invite" police interaction.
But cops claimed he assaulted them so he gets arrested. Then goes to the hospital. Then goes back into custody.
And then he's not heard of for a while, then days later says he's out and okay. But facing FELONY charges!
WHERE IS EVERYONE? Pinknews cunts? Them? OutMag? Hello??
Almost a year later, Lil Nas X is out of a mental health rehab program, looking good, saying he feels really good, and seems to be on the way up after all of this. I'm really happy for him. I hope he has good genuine support in his life through family, friends, and folks rooting on him that he can count on.
I am really disappointed but not surprised how quickly a lot of media support for him disappeared, especially queer papers. An interview from before the police incident really highlighted how many people wanted him to fail and wanted to see him fall, including certain pockets within communities that should have has his back.
Happy Happy Pride to Lil Nas X. I hope nothing but good things come his way.

Rage. In my heart. All-consuming. FUCK AI.
For those who don't know, this piece is titled 'Unfinished Painting', by Keith Haring. He painted it about a year before his death of AIDs. I believe he actually finished other pieces between this one and his death. He left the majority of the canvas blank to represent his life and art career cut short due to HIV/AIDs. This was a deliberate choice and commentary about all that we lose (both personally and culturally) by ignoring the AIDs crisis at the time (1989). He was devastated he didn't have time to make more art. 'Finishing' Unfinished Painting is straight up spitting on Haring's grave and shows no understanding to the meaning behind the art. The AI interpretation doesn't even follow his extremely recognizable shape language and symbols. This is why people are angry about AI art. All commerce images and no meaning or humanity
This may be the best Pride merch I've seen from a major corporation.
Levi's said yes, actually. Assless chaps and a biker vest. Happy Pride.
And the assless chaps sold out on June 1.
They also specifically contacted members of the leather community, used them as models iirc, and donated $100k to Outright International. They talked the talk and walked the walk and put their money on it too. I don't really care that I can't afford and don't want this merch, I love to see my community getting the respect it deserves. Levi's said, "We make jeans which gays wear lots of jeans? Oh leather daddies? Let's call them."
I think Levi's donates to Outreach International every year too, as well as sponsoring pride events and other community support. They were offering Same Sex domestic partner benefits to employees in the 90s, and have been very public about their support for pro-lgbt legislation all through the 2000s.
So, you know, a giant corporation that walks the walk pretty consistently.
The above is a video shared by smrchildsadness on Twitter, showing a person participating in a pride parade exchanging a pride flag with a person standing on his (am using his pronoun based on the TikToks/Tweets of what happened) doorway who had a Portuguese flag. There are sounds of cheers and crying and the two people hug each other as they exchange the flags. The man at the doorway then waved kisses to the crowd within the pride parade.
The Tweet says: "NO YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HE WAS WAVING THE PORTUGUESE FLAG BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HAVE A PRIDE FLAG AND THEY TRADED FLAGS AND HE'S SO EMOTIONAL TO GET HIS OWN PRIDE FLAG I'M EMOTIONALLY RUINED"
For context, apparently they were worried that maybe he's a nationalist because he was waving the Portuguese flag and some nationalists opposing the pride march were waving that flag. But upon interacting with him, it turns out he didn't have have a pride flag and he wanted to wave *a* flag in support of the pride march. So they had an exchange and now he has his own pride flag đđĽš.
The image above is a Tweet by kunwara_ladkaa that says "I'm crying so much right now (Image taken by Manuel Fernando AraĂşjo/Lusa)". The image shows the same man from the pride parade crying as he hugs his new pride flag.
The above image is a Tweet by dudz_zZzz that says "ainda nĂŁo parei de pensar nele," which according to Google translate from Portuguese to English is "I still haven't stopped thinking about him." The image is a drawing of the person from the pride parade, crying as he hugs his new pride flag.

One of the most joyful moments of 2024 during a Pride Parade in Portugal.

possibly my favourite scene from anything ever
ok what the hell is the x files
This video is the reason I started watching the x files
things that made me stop wanting to die that require no effort whatsoever
change the color used to highlight text on your laptop
move the pictures on your wall
stack whatever clutter is in your room into piles even if you donât have time to clean it all
slightly vary your commute, even just by one street
change where you sit and scroll aimlessly on your phone even if itâs only to the chair in your room instead of your bed
drink water or juice out of a wine glass in the morning because nothing is real
shower with the lights off, without music
buy $3 flowers at trader joeâsâthey look bad next to the more expensive ones but they look so good in your room
start typing things you donât post into your notes. your thoughts can be worth documenting even if you donât deem them worth sharing
wake up super early just once. you donât have to make it a habit itâs just extra satisfying to go to bed that night
listen to the entirety of your favorite album from 2015
Almost all of these are about variety. Humans need stimulation! We need enrichment! We literally cannot do the same thing every day!
The other day I was feeling miserable, so I hopped on a bus and rode it all the way back to where Iâd started, and my brain, which had finally had some proper stimulation via new environments, was suddenly ready to go again!
This is why taking walks/drives and trying new hobbies are good for you! Donât turn yourself into a sad zoo animal! You need some pumpkins to roll around in your enclosure!
ITS BACK!!!!!
god i fucking love the quote âdont turn yourself into a sad zoo animalâ it has really inspired me!
i do think that the pitt is making commentary on the way racial constructs in the US work.
they named the ICE agents russo and correa. presumably italian and hispanic last names, both groups that have had their place in whiteness disputed a million times over in the last two centuries. they showed the fluid way armenian people are perceived by white supremacists. robbyâs whole character is often reduced to his whiteness in fandom spaces when that man is unambiguously jewish. (yall arenât understanding how antisemitic you sound when you insist this jewish man is all powerful and controlling over what happens in the ED, when he is middle management at best.) they literally show the life-long impact violent antisemitism has on jewish people.
theyâre laying out that racial constructs have nuance. itâs not just about skin tone. itâs about language and culture and structural power. how whiteness envelops certain people when itâs convenient and then disposes of others when they disrupt the status quo.
ogilvie speaks farsi and itâs impressive. baran and nazely speak armenian and itâs a spectacle. the writers are trying to tell us something about the way the racial hierarchy is moving in america during trumpâs second term, and so many people are insistent on resisting the nuance.
DID IS NOT RARE DID IS NOT RARE DID IS NOT RARE DID IS NOT RARE DID IS NOT-
DID is (approximately) as common as autism; 1-2% of the human population have it. That means every 100 people you meet, one or two of them are likely to be autistic, and one or two of them will likely have DID. This means that, statistically, you will meet up to 100 systems across your life (and thatâs only the ones from DID!) And thatâs just based off the average number of people you meet (10000); you will likely see significantly more!
DID is not rare, and even if you donât have it, someone you know likely does.
They may even have an autistic friend that you can meet.
It's such a good reminder that DID is way more common then people think. That learning about it is good because like people with other conditions it's good to be prepared to be gentle with people from all walks of life.
I'll add a few things I know from therapy and reading. Just a heads up, I talk only about traumagenic dissociative disorders because that's what I know, that doesn't mean I don't acknowledge the existence of other forms of plurality and system origins, I'm just not able to talk about it.
According to my psychiatrist, who is not specialized in DID but in trauma disorders, DID/OSDD/pDID and other forms of traumagenic dissociative disorders are present in between 1 to 2% of the population.
It doesn't need to stem from "extreme" trauma but from repeated trauma mostly, no matter the severity of it. Things as "mundane" as loneliness or emotional neglect can cause it because it is most and foremost a coping mechanism. If you are more enclined to dissociate to cope, you are more enclined to develop DID even from "mild" experiences. As shown in the book "The Body Keeps The Score" about PTSD, two people can experience the exact same traumatic event and one is going to dissociate to cope, while the other will not.
That's why some people will go through extreme trauma and not develop any dissociative disorders, while some others will experience milder experiences and develop DID/OSDD. It's kind of a matter of how your brain responds to things more than the events itselves.
Still, according to my psychiatrist, the issue with DID/OSDD, etc, is that it is WILDLY underdiagnosed. People love to say that "everybody has DID," but in fact, psychiatrists are absolutely not trained to diagnose these disorders. My therapist told me that she had to educate herself and that she wouldn't have even thought of doing it if she wasn't specialized in trauma disorders. They don't have any classes about it in school, or barely so, and most of them don't have any tools to diagnose nor treat these disorders. So, the people who are the most likely to actually get diagnosed are the most severe cases who are going inpatient or are hospitalised because they can't function as they are.
That doesn't mean that a system that is functional is less valid than another that has to be in and out of treatment. It just means, like any other illness/disease, that severity is on a scale, dissociative disorders and trauma disorders are a spectrum, and it fluctuates.
We knew we were a system years even before we stumbled upon the online DID/OSDD community. Some other systems are not aware they are one until they get a diagnosis. It just depends. At the end of the day, all you really have to think about is being able to live your everyday life without it being a constant struggle. That's what matters. But saying that DID is an "extremely rare disorder" caused only by "absolutely horrific extreme unfathomable traumas" is false and contributes to the underdiagnosis and, therefore, lack of care that people with these disorders face.

Fascists don't want kids to learn sex education because while they say it's to prevent access to "lewd" content and "alternative lifestyles", aka other people existing that aren't cishet, in reality it helps kids prevent being assaulted.
Oh, hey, a perfect example of how right wing fearmongering about queer people and âprotecting children from the Dreaded Smutâ are inexorably linked.
"Sex ed protects kids from predators" is also part of the reason fascists are against it. Look at how MAGA are trying to rehabilitate Epstein and saying shit like "partying with Epstein isn't a crime!" Look at how many prominent far-right figureheads were close to Epstein in the first place, and how Epstein himself was a eugenicist. Not all predators are fascists, but all fascists are predators.
Fascists hate sex ed because it reduces their ability to prey on women and kids. The sleaze is the point.
Good time to mention that the Unitarian Universalist church has a sex education program called Our Whole Lives (OWL) and many of the resources are available for free online. The program is designed for age-appropriate discussions of bodily autonomy, gender, sexuality, sexual health, and all forms of sexual and non-sexual intimacy starting in kindergarten and continuing through to adulthood. If you or someone in your life is in need of comprehensive, compassionate sex ed it's a great place to start.
