Game companies hate emulation, but none of them seem to understand that a lot of us would just buy ROMs from them directly if we could. I don't want a fifth remake of Final Fantasy IV, I want to pay five bucks for the 3MB file you already made bank with thirty years ago. Nobody who wants to play something for the purpose of retro gaming is going to consider a $40 remake as the alternative option, and we're certainly not going to let the original dissappear. They're crying about opportunity cost for a product they're not even selling.

that comment about how you should not borrow grief from the future has saved me multiple times from spiraling into an inescapable state of anxiety. like every time i find myself thinking about how something in the future could go wrong i remember that comment and i think to myself: well i never know, it might get better. it might not even happen the way i think it will and if it does happen and it is sad and bad ill be sad about it then, when it happens. and it’s somehow soo freeing

I think it should be discussed how in American media, a southern accent is nearly always narrative shorthand for “this character is dumb, belligerent, and racist”.

Progressive American writer: “Hm how can I immediately convey to the audience that they shouldn’t like this character, that this character is going to be an immediate, aggressive problem for the protagonists, that he opposes my bold and progressive story’s themes of peace, equality, and anti-bigotry?
