Do you know why Pelle was closer to his father than to his mother?
Damn, do you have some kind of sixth sense? Probably 28 seconds ago I sent a message about this to my friend, because I finally found out his mother's maiden name this morning, and by extension, information about her and her family. Which led me to the firm evidence in swedish archives where I saw that Pelle was recorded living at his father's address in 1985, while his mom and siblings lived elsewhere.
So, he lived with his father, at least for some time (years). I can't see further than 1985 because he wasn't in the files after he moved to Norway.
During Morbid days, he gave his mother's address(es) in 1987 as his own, so I guess he moved in with her. Why? I don't know. But he dropped out of high school around 1986, so it might be connected. Who kicked him out of the house in 1988 is still a mystery, but if we follow this trail of evidence, it should have been mother.
Now, why they weren't close? I really have no idea, but it's clear that something wasn't right there. He was definitely closer to his father (also evident from the fact that it was the father who tried to "save him" by coming to Norway in 1991, and not his mother).
From everything said in BFD book, it always seemed to me like his father was more "emotional" or at least emotionally available? Anders was very very careful and tried to talk about his parents in the same tone but to me... The tone was never equal.
He chose anecdotes where his FATHER was hurt because Pelle was rejected by others, and where their mother was grounding them for something they had done. That's kinda weird to me and always was weird. He also said that their father was more understanding and supportive when it came to Pelle's choice of forming a band and all that (he was even at Morbid gig).
His father, again, not his mother, was the one encouraging him to get out of the house after NDE incident and to learn how to defend himself. One of his parents thought black metal is bad influence on his siblings, I will bet 148749 dollars it was his mother. I guess Pelle and his mom just weren't on the same wavelength.
Oh, and btw, his mom is 50% danish (through her father). Her maiden name literally doesn't exist in Sweden at all, just Denmark. And it's extremely rare even there. So that makes Pelle, what, 25% danish? I suck at these things. Anyway, he has danish blood
