friend is trying to convince me this is a common experience and I do not believe her, so
Do you expect to be paid back if you pay for something for your friend while you’re hanging out? (I.E. a ride, a meal, a trinket.)
Yes, always
Yes, but only if it’s above a limit of money
No, never
I don’t buy things for my friends.
bald button
For a more illustrative example, say you go to the movies with a friend and you buy them popcorn, do you expect them at some point to send you money back via cash or through an app of some kind? Will you be upset if they don’t?
It would be funny if we were introduced to a vast galaxy of alien life and the blue whale was still the largest animal ever discovered. Like that’s the biggest life has ever gotten. That would be fucked. The blue whale is just the craziest animals would get even with the introduction of a seemingly infinite number of new species. Would you be disappointed or celebrate the enormity of our homegrown big ass creature?
"#oh we would be so proud of it #so annoying about it #tourist trap planet. we have the biggest guy" keeping prev's tags because they cracked me up

Little girl teaching her cats how to draw a flower
(via)
they’re? just? sitting there ???
it makes it 100% better that i can’t understand her, i feel like i’m hearing what cats hear
Heh, she’s speaking Portuguese! Here’s what she’s saying:
*baby voice* “… and if you have any questions, just ask me! And now… yeah. And now you draw the roots. You draw them all twisted up! Got it? A flower? Now draw it. Did you get it, Luis Roberto? Did you get it, Jurandir? Look. Did you get it? That’s how you draw a flower.”
Luis Roberto and Jurandir are people names (Jurandir is especially a name associated with older men) so it’s extra funny that the cats are named that, heh.

Somebody in a Twitch stream chat was trying to insult a streamer by saying, "You're almost 40, and you've only gotten a tarot card reading once?" And I don't know, I'm still amused by this. I'm in my late 20s and I've also only had a tarot card reading once. One of those ones on the street you pay for. The guy doing my tarot card reading was like, "You're going to join the military," or something like that, and 15 year old me thought to myself, "Okay, well that's not true. So I guess I just got scammed," and then I just never got a tarot card reading since then.
Military recruiter who pretends to be a tarot card reader so he can tell every person who gets their future read by him and they'll be joining the military in the future.
I get this question a lot, and I can't remember if I've given a genuine answer before or not:
Android smartphones allow users to install custom fonts through the Android store. The custom font setting changes the font across most of the phone's interface, as well as default apps.
This custom system font setting doesn't change most of the fonts in most other apps, but will sometimes change the font for one part of an app. For instance, most of the YouTube app on Android uses the normal YouTube fonts, but the Youtube comment section uses the phone's custom font setting. Same with Tumblr: most of the fonts are the normal Tumblr fonts (like the screenshot of tags above), but the Tumblr replies use the phone's custom font setting. For what reason this is, I'm not sure.
Conclusion: Any time you see a screenshot of a Tumblr reply that's in a different font than normal, assume the person taking the screenshot is on an Android phone with a custom font installed.
Hey here's some unsolicited decor advice: get a bowl. put it on your coffee table. fill it with objects that are Good To Hold. Watch your guests be satisfied.
For example, I have this bowl of polished rock orbs. (and one glass ball.) they serve no purpose but everyone who comes into my home picks up at least one of them and just kinda rolls it around in their hands.
Such a polite guest!!
okay this is an insane poll but for context: as a lot of people know, in fashion and styling, different people have different complimentary palettes. some people look better in cool tones, some people look better in warm tones, some in bright colors, some in pastels, etc etc. however, this also applies to metals, specifically gold vs silver. so,
do you know whether you "should" be wearing either silver or gold
yes, i know which looks best, and i stick with this
yes, i know which looks best, and i don't care
no, i don't know
nuance button
i very much want to clarify before people get mad at me: i am not saying this is a thing that matters genuinely literally at all ever. i just am curious if most people care or are even aware of this.
Went into work today and was immediately confronted by this

im curious about a specific generational divide
regardless of you being queer or not, did your parents ever gave you the "if you turn out to be gay it would be fine" talk, before you ever had the chance to say anything on your own about that?
gen z, yes
gen z, no
millenial, yes
millenial, no
gen x, yes
gen X, no
baby boomer, yes
baby boomer, no
because it happened to me and im wondering if this was a product of the ongoing cultural change around gay issues. before i ever had the chance to say to my parents "i am this" my mom was already sitting me aside to tell me "if there is anything you want to tell me, i want you to know ill accept you no matter what"
there will never be anything as funny as the mutual disbelief between long form and short form fic writers about each other's style.
short form writers look at people writing 100k+ fics as though this is some sort of talent given as part of a fae bargain, that the commitment required shows some sort of ungodly mental fortitude.
meanwhile long form writers look at people writing 1000 word one shots like god I would cut off my left nipple to be able to say anything concisely. i would love to play with multiple ideas. free me from the shackles of this child I have birthed. i love them but I now must take them to t-ball and doctor's appointments and they're going to destroy everything I own.
Les Étoiles (“The Stars”) in Ivry-sur-Seine, France, is one of the most iconic examples of post-war experimental housing. Designed by architect Jean Renaudie in the 1970s, the complex rejects the monotony of uniform blocks — instead, it bursts into angular terraces, sharp geometries, and lush rooftop gardens.

i thought this was so interesting and wanted to add this commentary from the comments onto the body of the post:
comment transcription from @xenk: "Unfortunately les étoioes aren't as pretty as they're shown in pictures anymore. The reinforced concrete is drastically deteriorating with no plans for renovation, and the mall is near deserted and the small alleys aren't as safe as they used to be. The concept behind les étoiles is really great; Renaudie and Gailhoustet wanted to change the way social housing was built. Apartments in les étoiles are unique to encourage personalization, which was Renaudie's pique against what he called "technocratic rabbit hutches." It was both refreshing and baffling: apartment layouts have zigzagging walls, narrow triangular bedrooms that often call for custom furniture. It was a great achievement in the 60s when Irvy was thriving... but now it's left behind because the city's drowning in debt. As far as I know it's still studied in architecture schools though!"
end transcription.
Bouncy boy!

The one thing I want to add on to this: if you do want to increase your fiber intake, do it gradually. A sudden increase can cause distress and might make you think your body can't tolerate fiber; some people genuinely can't, but for most people the issue is temporary and it'll just be easier if you take it slow.
