but hear me out: Shane ask not to be coddled and Ilya resorts to ragebaiting him on the ice instead.

Ilya makes an offhand comment about keeping an eye on him during their game and Shane jumps because he’s a professional hockey player, has been for over a decade, he can take the heat thank you very much, and when Ilya points out the whole team will be probably coming for him, he’s like:

“Yes, I am the best fucking player in the league. The entire team coming for me is, like, a normal game night for me”

because he is The Shane Hollander and Ilya is kinda proud and very turned on by the sudden cockiness.

Until game night rolls around and ofc some of the team make comments about having Hollander’s back and Ilya has to swear he didn’t put them up to it (Shane won’t admit it but it makes him feel all warm inside, that’s his new team hell yes).

So 1st third he’s taking it like a champ but by the second, after he scores, the hits & chirps keep getting meaner & it’s getting to Shane. At some point he’s struggling to get up & Ilya skates by and says

“You good, Hollander, or do you need me to kiss your boo-boo?” with THAT tone and it makes Shane startle, but he chuckles and tells him to fuck off.

after that Ilya keeps chirping AT HIM, like he did back when they played against each other “no, no, don’t get up, I can score all the goals we need”, “taking nap, Hollander?”, “maybe you need to find softer sport, yes?”

so when they meet, is awkward at first. ilya tries hard to break the tension (there’s no tension, is just shane is shy and sveta wants a piece of him) and then the two of them starts to talk about hockey and just forget that ilya is also there.

now ilya is mad that no one is paying attention to him and even when he glues his body against shane and whines, shane doesn’t even glance at him.

Meanwhile Percy:

1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.

2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.

3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."

4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.

Steve Rogers very much strikes me as a young man who’d enjoy early genre spec fic, so I like to think that he read and enjoyed The Hobbit when he came out. Then he comes back in the 2000s and discovers that the same author who wrote this charming, whimsical children’s book went on to write three sequels, but the sequels are genre-spawning literary epics,  which have become a touchstone of American culture and went on to inspire a hundred knockoffs and entire new schools of western fantasy

In the books, even if he was absolutely slaying, eating, serving BAMF in the middle of the fight, the book would be saying like "gosh I'm so awkward and clumsy haha who let me hold a sword lol I'm such a silly goose"

In the show we see him in pain and literally doing the most insane stuff with the most stoic facial expressions. Killing, stabbing, getting stabbed. He isn't some quirky funny kid on the outside, even if canonically on the inside he sees the world like a real kid. The show Percy seems different for these reasons but that's not OOC, that's just what Percy looks like to EVERYONE ELSE.
