it really is quite bad for your military to have an image of itself as a warrior class. what you really want is for your soldiers to think of themselves as boring professionals who will fill out a report form if someone gets a little too warrior ethos out there

The most important part of all this is that these small acts of bravery and noncompliance cannot be known as long as the enemy still stands, and might never be known. Just because it doesn’t seem like anyone is doing anything doesn’t mean it’s true. The best malicious compliance or subtle sabotage is the one that’s never detected, but makes ravages nonetheless.

People getting mad at the new Avatar show’s concept because it makes it impossible to not hate Korra. Hey, ya, Korra hater here and, no. Not really. This is simply following a trend of every Avatar. Literally, read any of the novels and you’ll see that every previous Avatar left some horrible shit for the next Avatar to have to clean up. Yangchen left Kuruk dark spirits. Kuruk left Kyoshi political nightmares. (I haven’t read the Roku novels yet-). And Roku left Aang the war. Every Avatar does something horrible and leaves it behind for the next Avatar to deal with. Still a Korra hater, but this concern/complaint is dumb.

Kyoshi also didn’t handle removing Ozai’s ancestors from power and let their racist rhetoric fester until Sozin and his children is her sin imho.

great thing about a character with very little canon backstory is that you truly can say anything you want about them. my blorbo now.
