You don't quite realize how many scams, how expensive, how fucked the economy is until you physically cannot work a job (or are otherwise unemployable). I can't do fucking anything anymore because it all requires a fucking income to participate. Even the free places require I either have access to an expensive vehicle, the insurance to cover it, or can pay the bus fair even though it fucking public transport.
Minecraft's Marketplace pass is a scam. They have a free Marketplace Pass weekend going on rn. The pass? You get to test add-ons and worlds, you get to incorporate them into your worlds. But you ever can't spare those $4? Oops! All those add-ons are gone! The world templates? Gone! Some mods fundamentally changed how the game functions, so those worlds are completely unplayable at that point because they relied on the mods for their generation or core mechanics. Those worlds are storage-hogging paperweights now.
Wanna play this game where the main purpose is the multiplayer feature? Give us $20 a year! See how little that is compared to other subscription services? It's so cheap! It doesn't matter that you paid $60 (and now up to $80-some) for the game, you didn't pay for the online features even though that's 90% of the games appeal (Mariokart, Splatoon, Minecraft, etc). Ignore that our games used to have online play for free as part of your purchase of the game! What are we, made of money? No no no we had to sue people into oblivion and they will never recover financially because they used our previous IP in a way that we personally didn't like, even though it made no money off it.
Oh that "serving" of oatmeal at McDonald's? It's not even enough to feed a toddler, even with the added toppings volume. But it's still gonna cost you $2 plus tax. (Over $7 for the oatmeal and 2 small sodas).
Tired of the ads? Pay us money to play our puzzle game! You know, the types of games that never used to have ads, then only had ads when you needed extra coins? Then put ads between each level, then ads in the middle of a level? Then ads for every click you make? Opened the app? Ad.
Oh are you paying for our service and still seeing ads? Oh that's because you're on our lowest subscription tier! See? You need to pay for the Super-Ultra-Duleux Expansion Bonus tier to get rid of ads. How expensive is it? Oh are you one of the poors? You'll never be able to afford it anyway.
Wait... why are you stealing our things from random websites? Don't you see how many ads there are on it? That's a sign of malware! Those sites are dangerous! No, our sites aren't dangerous, all our ads are from mega corporations who keep track of all your data so we can determine how much you're willing to pay for something and change the price at checkout without you noticing. Oh you didn't sign up for our subscription service? But got charged for it anyway? Weird, so weird... but did you enjoy the perks? Your account overdrew because of it? Can't afford your Internet and you work from home? Oh, I'm sorry! You should have cancelled your subscription before it renewed then! Honestly, you should be more careful about overspending.
I hope every mega corporations kills itself and we get to ransack the corpses. Your company does not deserve to live if it preys on desperate people who have no other option if they want to survive the week.
