when i was a kid i decided that killing people was bad therefore war was bad therefore the military was evil. and adults would tell me it's more nuanced than that and i would understand when i grew up. well i'm a grown up now and idk i still think that killing people is bad and war is bad and the military is evil

I once had a supervisor who told me that she hated Halloween because it was fantasy. "How could you make a holiday around something that isn't even real?" Like she could understand religion and folklore because the belief was "sincere" but the idea that people would enjoy something they know is made up, AND willingly buy candy for strange begging children was too much. Utterly incomprehensible to me.
