its so awkward when people ask me why i dropped out and i have to be like "inadequate disability support" bc no one wants to hear this. they're always like i thought they had to provide that though isn't it the law? girl you might want to sit down i have some bad news about the litigation-based enforcement of the americans with disabilities act
then if i do say that theyre like, couldnt you sue? well theoretically maybe but not without spending more money than i have and putting myself through absolute hell. so no. no i can't.
it’s just this
This would be really funny if it weren’t an email from my bank.
You can actually predict bubbles, especially ones this obvious. Everyone who wants to know how should read A Short History of Financial Euphoria by John Kenneth Galbraith.
Yes, it’s dry.
Yes, it’s 30 years old.
But it gives a tidy little checklist of “is this a bubble?” and AI has been checking every one off like a to do list. Just like NFTs and ponzicoin did before it.
You can also read This Time Is Different: Eight Centuries of Financial Folly by Carmen Reinhart and Kenneth Rogoff. It's on bookshop.org and, of course, on the Evil Empire website. It's all in the title, which is an ironic quoting of people who say what bubble-istas always say - what AI people are saying right now.
i honestly don't really understand why "some people prefer watching gameplay online rather than playing games themselves" is treated as such a taboo when being a spectator is considered a pretty mundane way to engage with most sports, game shows, reality tv or even just like. chess.
like the usual arguments are "not everyone can afford video games or have the software to pirate" or "you can be a fan of a game's story, but not it's gameplay" but also some people just have more fun watching other people be really good at starcraft or speedrun super mario 64, i don't think that's a particularly out of the box way to engage with the medium.
i know this argument is generally about story driven games rather than competitive multiplayer games, but alot of discourse is around how "gameplay is a fundamental part of video games as an artform" and i absolutely agree but i also don't think you need to hold a controller in order to appreciate a video game on a mechanical level in the same i don't think you need a driver's license in order to be a vehicle enthusiast, like it certainly helps but some people are just kind of autistic like that.
Big fan of media that makes you feel like this

STOP!!!!! CALLING!!!!! YOUR!!!!!!!! OWN!!!!!!! ART!!!!!! SLOP!!!!!!!!! STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THROWS EVERYTHING IN THE ROOM AROUND WITH MY MIND POWERS
everyone in the notes saying ":(((((((((((((((((( but im right!!!!!!!" boohoo stop using an antisemetic term from 4chan
[ID: tags reading "slop is a 4chan term used to push antisemitism btw; if you're using slop as in insult youre using an antisemitic [term]; plase be NICE AND MINDFUL TO JEWISH PEOPLE; STOP USING THE WORD SLOP STOP USING ANTISEMITIC DOG WHISTLES; LEAVE US JEWS BE PLEASE!!!!" /end ID]
its kind of crazy that all it took for self shipping to become a recognizable trend in certain spaces was using a japanese word for it instead
So can we talk about the orientalism that plagues fandom and is present in the selfship community. Yume as a term blew up because of it, it's why white people give their self inserts Asian names and then get mad when someone tells them that's cultural appropriation. Asian terms (and especially Japanese ones) are seen as a cool aesthetic more so than something from an irl culture
okay i need people to reblog this for data
(5 minute questionnaire. especially please answer if you haven't been on tumblr for like 10 years)

Do you people even know about Prompto's photographs
Do you know that in hit game Final Fantasy 15 (2016) one of your party members is this cute lil' nerd and one of his Things is he's a photgrapher, so he's always taking pictures, there a whole system coded in to just randomly take in-engine screen captures of your party as they go about their day-to-day. And whenever you save you get to go over ten of those pictures and choose if you want to save any to your personal in-game album. This is obviously a feature designed for word of mouth fan promotion, because from your in-game album there's a ton of options for sharing your photos or downloading them to personal storage. Which is fun, games are allowed to do that, but. Ya know. Maybe not worth the effort of making a whole system to automatically do that.
Except it's also very baked into the world. There's a couple photos you have to get as you advance through the story, but mostly they're fun so you bookmark one or two as you progress through the game. And as you explore the world sometimes Prompto will ask to stop at scenic locations or tourist traps or whatnot and bam you've got a few more. And if you do this every time you save, you end up with quite a collection.
Anyways, fast forward to the end of the game, when you, the main character, are about to die. You know this. You are marching stubbornly to your own martyrdom, with no hope of survival. And the main character turns. And asks to see Prompto's photo collection.
YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE!!!!! YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE ONE!!!!! You have to pick, from those maybe dozens of silly goofy funny little screencappable moments, which one the main character is going to physically take with him into the last battle and clutch to his chest as he dies!!!!!! That photo you choose will show up in cutscenes!!!!! They make it your save files lockscreen!!!!!!! Is this thing on????
I knew this was a genius mechanic at the time, but reading this makes me remember YES THIS WAS A GENIUS THING

day one of having a fandom mutual: you like The Character too? no way!
day three hundred of having a fandom mutual: The Character probably gets vivisected recreationally. no doubt
It's wild to realise how much and how quickly I normalise new symptoms.
Just this morning I was debating with myself if my leg pain was actually worse than usual and if it warranted calling out of work or not.
And then it hit me.
Since when do I have leg pain? Since when do I consider leg pain so normal to my day that I have a baseline of leg pain? I never had leg pain when I first got diagnosed? Where did it come from?
I will continue posting in favour of there being fewer people like that
god my heart is fucking breaking for all these people THERE IS STILL TIME DO YOU HEAR ME
IT ISN'T TOO LATE AS LONG AS YOU'RE ALIVE
hi everybody i started HRT at 35 so like don't even despair
being in ur twenties makes u feel like 30 is a brick wall u either fly over or crash into but i promise u it's a door and it opens up into the rest of ur life like getting past the prologue of an open world game
very important addition from @thatsladyfaggottoyou ty <3
I started HRT at approximately 30 and top surgery at 32 just 4.5 months prior to this photo. It's never too late.
I always think of the description I saw years ago: Self-imposed deadlines don't help me, because I know the person who set them, and they're full of shit.
I've found that, more than anything else, the thing that motivates me the best is reminding myself why the task is important and why I will be happy when I get it done.
"If I do my laundry, I will have clean clothes that smell good and I won't feel self-conscious when I go out in public."
"If I do a little food prep tonight, I won't have to worry about motivating myself to do everything before work tomorrow, meaning I'm more likely to eat properly before I go to my shift."
"If I go out with my friends, I'll perk up once we start socializing and I'll be happy that I made the effort to get out."
Ofc, this doesn't always work, especially in the depths of executive dysfunction, but it does generally help more than it doesn't. It definitely helps me re-center & recontextualize my thoughts and think about my priorities and my needs, and has helped me stay on track when I'm trying to build good habits. I think, critically, you have to reframe the task away from "hard thing I have to do" and into "I'm doing this thing for a reason, and once it's done it'll be a relief/make me happier/make things easier/make me more powerful" ... whatever you have to say to help you put the task into perspective so you can take the first step.
Also, writing out a to-do list with a couple extremely easy tasks that you think you could manage & check off before you get to the Big Daunting Task. Idk if that helps everyone, but just getting started on some kind of to-do list is helpful for me to get into the right mindset, and it feels soooo good to check off tasks.
