I laughed âtil I cried. Oh my!
rip to the guy who posted his very expensive yixing teapot to r/tea, only for the comments to be not compliments on his taste as he expected, but instead GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY and I SHOULD CALL HER. he then crossposted it to r/gongfutea, which is ordinarily more dignified and self-serious, but was it? was it?? of course not, because this is reddit, and this was the teapot
I think we should figure out what age weâre living in now so we can say how itâs collapsing to each other

I really love when cats use their front legs to hold something in place while they use their back legs to kick the absolute shit out of it

Trans women are just strictly superior at everything I guess.
Truly speechless at this. "Cis women are so dainty and fragile that moving chess pieces for too long exhausts them."
Please acquire some self-respect (and maybe learn statistics). I am taking psychic damage over here.
So much of transphobia is just exaggerated sexism (or reheated homophobia).
This one is always on my mind. And always relevant.
Humans were drinking milk before they could digest it
Our history with milk presents a chicken-or-egg conundrum: Humans couldnât digest the beverage before they evolved mutations that helped them do so, yet they had to already be consuming milk to change their DNA. âThereâs always been the question of which came first,â says University of Pennsylvania geneticist Sarah Tishkoff. âThe cultural practice or the mutation.â
Now, scientists have found the oldest evidence yet for dairy drinking: People in modern Kenya and Sudan were ingesting milk products beginning at least 6000 years ago. Thatâs before humans evolved the âmilk gene,â suggesting we were drinking the liquid before we had the genetic tools to properly digest it.
All humans can digest milk in infancy. But the ability to do so as an adult developed fairly recently, likely in the past 6000 years. A handful of mutations allows adults to produce the enzyme lactase, which can break down the milk sugar lactose. Genes that enable whatâs called lactase persistence are widespread in modern Africa, which has four known lactase persistence mutations. (European populations rely on just one.) Read more.
âThe research also shows dairying in Africa goes back just as far as it does in Europeâperhaps longer. That undercuts a myth, propagated by white supremacists, that lactase persistence and milk drinking are somehow associated with white Europeans. â
Being lactose intolerant and eating dairy anyway is a tradition going back millennia is how Iâm going to justify my decisions from now on
realizing that the online sphere and especially tumblr is NOT a good sample for âwhat everyone thinksâ is so, so, so good for your mental health and moral OCD. i swear to god. realizing that you donât have to live your actual life like youâre being hunted for sport because the average tumblr user will hunt you for sport for wording something slightly weird or engaging in the wrong stuff or whatever is so incredible. like no youâre actually not fucked up and evil for not donating or for watching that one indie cartoon or questioning a post that everybody is agreeing with. thatâs just tumblrs georg making you feel that way
