Now, for people who may be new here, this is a revision of my old epic trilogy, As the Turn of the Worlds, aka "The Avatar/Firefly AU". I've completed the first and second books and begun the revision of the third, for those who are interested in the new versions, or who may have never heard of them but are interested in the premise!

Aang never woke up from the iceberg, and the world went on without him. Over the next three thousand years, technology advanced astronomically, and the people of the overcrowded world took to the stars. Now, the Avatar is an obscure myth, bending is regarded as a relic of a dead past, and only two of the original countries still exist: the Fire Nation, one of the most powerful forces in the Union of Allied Planets, and the Water Tribe, clinging to life on the Outer Rim, still fighting for the dream of independence. The latest civil war ended seven years ago, in a landslide victory for the Alliance.

Book One, Objects in Space: Katara is a Companion working on Sihnon, and was lucky enough to be picked by the Princess of the Fire Nation to attend to her surly brother, but there's strife in the family that spills over into her life: when she accidentally exposes the princess's plot to kill the Fire Lord, she finds herself in prison for conspiracy, and must call in a favor from an old friend, another Companion who travels the border with a band of thieves. Meanwhile, a man named Sokka is on the hunt for his long-lost sister, Admiral Zhao is on the hunt for an old mark, and a man smuggles a large box onto a transport ship…

Book Two, Still Flying: Following the startling Alliance defeat at Sarqaq, Azula isn't the only one on the hunt for the Avatar: the Parliament has sent out its own hunter, an Operative who works with a strike force of powerful, secretive men. Meanwhile, the crew gets desperate and is forced to accept a damning job, and an expatriate of the Water Tribe comes back with an offer they can't afford to refuse.

Book Three, No Power in the 'Verse: With Aang in the Fire Lord's clutches, it's a race against time and the full force of the Alliance military to free him and somehow keep war from breaking out again in the Outer Rim. Meanwhile, the crew is forced to fall back on Toph's family for sanctuary, and Yue — alone in the Fire Nation — is in over her head, trying to keep out of sight and find a way to stop Azula, who has something big up her sleeve, a high-military Alliance secret she plans to unleash on the rebellious border planets, something called the Pax...

UPDATE 2024: in honour of the upcoming third season i finally gave in to my perfectionist impulses and reformatted this thing to not be fuck ugly.

Fiction is not reality.

You can enjoy things in fiction that would be awful in the real world. Like playing a murderhobo in a game! In the real world, being or supporting a murderer-thief would be pretty damn awful, while in the game it's just good fun. Same with anything else you choose to do with the pixels on the screen, like kinks that don't affect anyone real, so they're okay in fiction, but would be pretty damn bad in real life.

No one else is responsible for your online experience. They are required not to harass you, but they are not and never will be obligated to not post about ships, kinks, or tropes you dislike just to avoid you seeing them. It's up to you to blacklist words or phrases, block tags, or even block users as needed to avoid seeing content that upsets you.

No one can force you to read anything against your consent. Any content you don't like seeing can be instantly avoided by closing out of the offending post/fic.

You are not owed an online experience free of discomfort.

Nothing that happens in your imagination can ever make you a bad person. Words you write or read about fictional characters will never make you a bad person.

The claim that media consumption influences real-life behavior is intellectually dishonest and serves only to excuse the behavior of real offenders.

Fiction is a safe way to explore horrifying or confusing concepts. Therapists agree that fiction, even (or especially) about taboo topics is a good coping mechanism, especially, but not exclusively, for trauma survivors. Fiction is to adults what play therapy is to children. This doesn't stop being true if the work in question is of a sexual nature.

Sex isn't an inherently worse or better motivation than anything else. A work written to create feelings of arousal isn't dirty, shameful, or in any way less pure than works written to entertain, provoke moral questions, or for other reasons. And worth noting is that multiple purposes can exist in the same story, especially fanfiction.
