“I don’t understand.” Lawrence reached forward to cup Adam’s cheek, and before he could stop himself, Adam flinched minutely away. It was a small motion, and it would have been nearly invisible to anyone else…but this was Lawrence, who knew him even better than Adam knew himself. He saw, and his brows crumpled, and he drew back slowly, and Adam hated himself for it.
