it means i can oppose war, american imperialism, the military industrial complex, and the cult of male violence without discounting the myriad factors that contribute to someone enlisting, including but not limited to millions of dollars spent annually to recruit children. 

After I was born, she talked to a close friend about if she’d made the right choice - she felt like she was relegating herself to a life without importance - she felt that society had told her that to be important she has to go get her degree and “change the world.” Her friend told her that if she is raising her children to be good people, she’s changing the world by being present for them and helping them live their fullest potential.

My mom believed in this principle so strongly that she followed it for most of my life and dedicated long hours to schooling us at home (at least 3 of us kids were neurodivergent - I can confidently say I wouldn’t have survived as my authentic self in a public school).

My mom and dad have one of the best relationships I’ve ever seen - it’s one I aspire to and admire all the time. My father has overwhelming respect and love for my mom, which she has for him as well. They like to sit on the patio or in the living room and have a drink while they just talk for long hours alone together. They miss each other when they’re gone. I once found a love note from my dad to my mom the day he left on a business trip and at the time I was embarrassed but in retrospect who doesn’t want the kind of partner who writes love notes after being together 10, 15, 25 years?

To assume my mom was oppressed, conservative, didn’t make her own choice, didn’t think about the implications of her choice, or didn’t have a relationship that was both equal and loving makes you look stupid and to a certain degree sexist yourself.

vegans:

Commercial agriculture: *develops certain GMOs and pesticides that kill keystone bug species, which disrupts the environment and kills many different animals up the food chain as a result*

Vegans:

Commercial agriculture: *destroys local ecosystems by ripping out native species and replacing them with massive farms of exotic monocultures, resulting in the deaths and endangerment of millions of species*

Vegans:

Inuit people: *live in an environment where growing plant based food is extremely difficult, and where grocery prices are inflated past affordability so they hunt a few large animals every year which feed their entire community*

Orange juice in my home town is 25$ minimum! We buy bread for special occasions! Something Southern people have on their dinner table 24/7 is something I would see only a few times a year!

Not to mention, we use AS MUCH OF THE ANIMAL AS POSSIBLE! Bones become plates, and silverware (or in some cases jewlery), fur and blubber becomes homes and clothing and beds. Teeth become combs. And we eat EVERYTHING! I’ve had brains, and eyeballs, and intestines. Anything that can be eaten, will be eaten. We DONT throw ANYTHING away. And if we have too much (which is rare but has happened before) we leave it for the suffering wild life!

Polar bears will come and gouge themselves on a whale we don’t finish, wolves will feast on some left over seal tails, foxes will devour caribou carcases!

Even now, we are curbing our hunting ideas. We DONT hunt as many whales as we used too, we used to hunt maybe five a year, but now we hunt one to three! Seals are also taken care of but use only hunting males, and older males at that! Caribou was my family’s main meal, and lemmings when they would come around.

If you are vegan, cool! More power too you! But you probably live in a place that can grow more than lichen, and grass. You live in an industrialized place, where everyone has a car, and house.

I call all these “documentaries” propaganda because they’re just that. They’re not based on fact, scientific, statistical and otherwise but based on twisting truths and just straight up lies. 

Animal rights is propaganda and is overall awful. And all the vegan documentaries on netflix are propaganda by definition (which is bias or misleading information) and have been debunked many times.

Animal welfare is what everyone should really be focused on, considering animal welfare organisations are often non-for profit and actually you know, improve the quality of care and treatment towards animals.

Animal welfare focuses on taking care of animals and bettering their lives. Animal welfare is encouraging local farmers who do things like raise their chickens and pigs on pasture instead of small cages. Animal welfare is encouraging appropriate medical care no matter the species, including pain relief. Animal welfare is things like not docking tails and ears just for the appearance of it instead of as an actual medically necessary procedure. It’s advocating for changing the breed standards of brachycephalic dogs and cats.
