Since you said that you hate how cows dont really get to live "the whole cow experience", have your views on the dairy industry and farming changed since you first began working, and do you have any new opinions on what should change welfare-wise?

I just kind of hate the inevitability of large scale agriculture and don’t believe that we can argue that cows on large dairies get their “freedom to display natural behaviors” in any sense and I don’t think it’s fair to them at all. But I also don’t think there’s much the average person can do

Can you explain how cows on large dairies don't get their freedom to display natural behaviors? Youve previously said that there is no correlation between dairy size and animal welfare.

Do you think theres anything that can be done to change things for the better?

Overall, is there any nuances to the dairy farming industry you can share? From your experiences Ive read about it cant be completely terrible and unethical, or you wouldnt have worked in it.

Cows are constantly moved between different pens without any regard for stable herd relationships, no mother-calf relationships are allowed, as far as enrichment goes most large farms have the cow brushes and that’s basically it tbh. The way calves are raised in solitary pens prevents them from socializing for two months impacts social development. Idk im just really disillusioned with it at this point :’(
