I've wanted to make a series of aging Misty designs for a while now, I liked the idea of her growing "mistier" and faded as she aged, becoming entirely unrecognisable.
I like the general direction I took with these, but you can tell the youngest headshot was drawn a while ago with the style change, lol and I'm pretty rusty atm.
Trying to figure out some Eridian gaits! There aren't a lot of references for pentapodal gaits, especially for radially-symmetrical pentapods, so I experimented with several different walk cycles and ended up with these two I liked best.
- The "star walk": each leg steps alternatingly, similar to a quadruped's trot. However, as there are an odd number of legs, the two steps eventually lead to two adjacent legs moving with one opposite leg, and then leaving the two remaining legs to move.
- The "round walk": each leg in turn takes a step, clockwise or counterclockwise, creating a sort of "ripple" effect that goes around the body.
Not sure which of these work better, but perhaps the star walk could be used for a more balanced or stable gait, while the round walk could be used at a faster gait when running? We don't get much clips of Rocky running in the movie so not sure if an Eridian run would feel more like a "scurry" or a "gallop".
Also I ended up using red and blue for the model Eridian for visualization purposes but he...kinda somehow ended up becoming a character lol.
Parker:
-he/him
-engineer at the space elevator who participated in the Blip-A launch, worked alongside Rocky and Adrian before the launch
-has a crystalline, iridescent carapace that shifts between red and blue depending on his angle, but more uniformly red in the torso and more blue in the legs.
-named by Grace for both his spidery appearance and color scheme
-had a big crush on Adrian but they fell in love with Rocky instead. While holding no hard feelings for Rocky he ends up thinking he could maybe have a second chance with Adrian if Rocky doesn't come back, but Adrian still declines, is insistent that Rocky will return and patiently waits decade after decade.
-feels like a horrible person for feeling sad that Rocky did come home after all. Rocky is both snarky about it but also somewhat supportive and hopes he'll find someone else someday.
-is in the process of moving on, and instead spending his time studying and learning more about the Hail Mary and its structural workings to help take his mind off things.

To expand on a few things:
- The weakest/most vulnerable part of their bodies is the shoulder socket, as it's surrounded by bare skin and the spiracle openings. The back and chest fur usually does a pretty good job of hiding it. If you were a slugcat with a spear, this is where you would want to aim.
- The spines on their back are hollow. This is mainly for communication, as they produce a louder noise when bristling (which they do when scared, angry or upset). Alongside clicking their mandibles, they can't really make any other noises and are generally silent.
- The layout of the Scavenger's key internal organs is pretty consistent amongst most other chordate-equivalent animals (paired ventral nerve cords, dorsally-placed heart, lungs/gills towards the back with nearby spiracles). It's not horrendously efficient for the more developmentally advanced creatures such as scavengers, as they're mostly holdover traits from their simpler, molluscan ancestors.
- Most of the finger joints locks together when a fist is made, absorbing shock when knuckle-walking. Scavengers communicate using sign language, so despite this their hands and finger joints are surprisingly dextrous!

Drew another scene from my fic because I love them. I've seen a lot of people using text from screenshots lately and I really liked the style so I used it here as well haha
The Ridgeface Clans' medicine cats have similar customs to those of the books, being responsible for both healing and spiritual connection. They take a vow to help any cat in need, no matter who they are or where they hail from. Notably, the promise to celibacy seen in the canon books is not something they follow. These medicine cats are free to take a mate and have kits if they please.

Tallshadow - she/her
Head medicine cat of Valleyclan, she is quiet and observant. She's known for being especially virtuous, and sometimes gets involved in mediation issues within her clan.
Sunpaw - she/her
Born during the season of Ice, Sunpaw lost her tail and eartips to frostbite. Tallshadow nursing her to health is what introduced her to medicine. She is very timid and is slow to grow comfortable with strangers, but once she is close she's known for her generosity.
Mushroomdust - she/her
Head medicine cat of Burnclan, she is jovial and outgoing. An optimist to a fault, Mushroomdust tends to take losing patients hard. She's known for her ability to brighten the spirits of any cat around her.
Rivercall - they/them, Rattlerstripe - he/him
Both are considered the head medicine cats of Fallclan. Siblings from different litters who shockingly resemble their father. Rivercall is the older, and they have a goofy streak but can become surprisingly serious when the situation calls for it. They also have a bit of a habit of snapping quickly and becoming irritated, especially with their annoying brother. Rattlerstripe has trouble taking anything seriously, and loves to crack jokes and make pranks. He has an impressive link to Starclan and knack for interpreting signs.
Sleekroot - he/him
Head medicine cat of Marshclan, and oldest medicine cat of all the clans. He is calm, level-headed, and can be a bit of a tease. He was very close to Honeypad, and watches over Pinewhisper in his stead. Sleekroot would like to retire someday, but no Marshclan kit has shown interest in medicine in his time. He has a quick eye for signs and omens.
Pinewhisper - he/they
Head medicine cat of Treeclan. He is known to be grouchy and introverted. Has trouble connecting with others, although the grumpiness is mostly connected to his chronic pain. After growing up in a severe famine, Pinewhisper never grew properly and has short legs that cause them pain. Spending much of their time in the medicine den as a kitten was what awoke their fascination with herbs. Talented at experimenting with medicine and finding new intuitive cures for ailments.
Rubblepaw - he/him, she/her as an adult
Rubblepaw is friendly and gregarious. Surprisingly patient, especially for a child. He looks up to Pinewhisper for his resilience and talent with medicine. Has good "bedside manner" and an easy time memorizing medicines, although his unique connection to Starclan is his most valuable talent, especially considering Pinewhisper's often cynical view of their ancestors and their meddling. Rubblepaw is Larchkit's first choice in living cat to bother with their schemes, and Rubblepaw responds to the ghost kitten with patience and understanding.
