You are not going to pass a skillcheck against a rip current once it has you.

Waves will not bow to your physical prowess no matter how impressive.

Shock does not care that you used to be on your school swim team.

If you hit your head, being good at swimming isn't going to turn you face-up while you're unconscious.

i feel like sometimes we get so into who is the most oppressed to the point where we start seeing eachother as the enemy when we're all being crushed from the outside.

i want us to live long enough to have these conversations in a "hierarchy of needs" kind of way. like, being able to go to the freaking bathroom without a huge fine or jail time or just being able to go to the doctor without fear of subpar treatment or being able to access safe housing is more "we have to fix this right now" and the rest is "this is very important, but we have to not be dead or in jail or homeless first".

After all, ideologies of blood and land have no place in liberation struggles to begin with.

Look, you don't have to fix everything. You just need to push back against the lies xenophobes spread about refugees and stateless people. The same goes for everyone reading this.
