you come from the same place. you are different in so many ways and yet you're the same. you didn't choose to know each other at first. maybe you choose to know each other now. when people look at you they see someone else. you're in each other's shadows, and you're both in the shadows of those who came before you. there's a legacy you're meant to uphold. there's a history that isn't quite yours but it doesn't belong to anyone else. you share it with them. maybe you know each other like the backs of your hands. maybe you are completely and totally estranged. there are some nights where you wondered if you should've been an only child. you're not sure yet if you should move out with them when you leave, or if you should have your own place, or if you should move out of your childhood home at all. it's less lonely. sometimes you'd like to be alone. you share more things than you'd like to. people think you're bound by blood, but if there's a connection, it's not because of what's in your veins.
