Last day, oh how I’ll forever miss the comics 🥀
goodbye heartstopper 🍂💛 it's been an honour!
Thank you for everything, Alice! ❤️🍂
One little detail I love about Andi Mack is how they show the characters casually reading for fun. Most shows for kids would make a big deal about how reading is important, but this show just shows it naturally without making it a thing.

mutuals, non-mutuals, ops of years old posts, you can all catch these paws
“It was something adults said all the time. “You'll change your mind when you're older. You never know what might happen. You'll feel differently one day.” As if we teenagers knew so little about ourselves that we could wake up one day a completely different person. As if the person we are right now doesn't matter at all.”
- Loveless, Alice Oseman (2020)
Happy pride month everyone!!

I can't stop thinking about Isaac Henderson in Heartstopper, and the inherent isolation of being an aroace person in a romance story. Because, at the end of the day, that's what Heartstopper is - it's about the romance between Nick and Charlie. Even when the narrative has expanded outwards to focus on other characters, their plotlines are primarily about romance: Elle and Tao, Darcy and Tara… It's true that Isaac has a loving friend group and the show doesn't devalue platonic love in the way that many romance stories do. But nevertheless, as an aroace person, Isaac is at odds with the genre of the story in which he lives. The tropes that shows like this are built around don't work for him.
Something that really hammers this home is how the scene when Isaac and James kiss mirrors Charlie and Nick's first kiss. In both scenes, two boys are sitting on the floor away from the main action of a party, one admits to having a crush, the other nervously wants to know whether it's them, and then they kiss. In his version of that scene with James, Isaac is experiencing a moment that - for another character - could be a beautiful moment in a romantic storyline.
For viewers who weren't aware of Alice Oseman's promise of an aroace storyline for Isaac, his interactions with James in the early episodes of Season 2 could easily have been interpreted as the beginning of a romantic love story. The rest of the main Heartstopper group have certainly been viewing his friendship with James through that lens, as shown by the way they tease him about it. But those plot beats of a romantic story don't work for Isaac. Trying to fit into the romance genre pushes Isaac in a direction that feels wrong for him. He is the one person in his primary friend group who can't make himself at home in a romance story.
I don't mean this as a criticism of the show. There is a lot of value to love stories like Heartstopper and there is a lot of value to having aspec representation in a show like Heartstopper. But I think this is the reason why Isaac's plotline felt particularly heartwrenching for me. Sometimes being aroace does feel like being out of step with the genre of story everyone else around you is living. Sometimes it feels like trying to find a place for yourself in a narrative that wasn't built for you. Sometimes it feels like trying to prove to yourself (and the world) that you can still have moments that feel like swirling leaves.
Heartstopper season two has me in a full chokehold
heartstopper is so funny to me bc it’s like almost all young up-and-coming teen actors and then just. academy award winner olivia colman is there to have four lines a season
Luke Mullen filmed his part in the Barbie movie in June, 2022, at Venice Beach in L.A. Also shown is Margot Robbie who plays Barbie. The film co-stars Ryan Gosling as Ken (third picture), and will be released in theaters this Friday, July 21.
Luke posted these pics and said, “Those frat guys seem nice.” He was one of those frat guys, so they indeed were nice.
Disney Plus is disappearing DOAFP I'm so angry I'm gonna punch a wall I fucking hate it here

HAPPY TRANS DAY OF VISIBILITY! 🏳️⚧️🤍🩷✨️
Few sketches of Elle Argent (Yasmin Finney) from Heartstopper to celebrate!
If you're a trans person reading this, I'm sending you all my love 💖💖
i think about tj’s turning point a lot. the exact moment he decides he wants to try to be a better person. i think maybe it’s a series of moments. in the show based on what we see, i’m inclined to say it happens between buffy’s mom coming home and the game tj wasn’t allowed to play.
tj finally passes the ball to buffy in 2x12, however he wouldn’t have if buffy hadn’t stood up for herself and the team back her up. after that he goes to cyrus’s bar mitzvah in which he seems like he’s trying to be civil with buffy. this is where it becomes interesting. because that means there was an off scream moment where tj made an active decision to be kind to buffy. most likely because this was cyrus’s bar mitzvah, he decided to be on his best behavior.
and yet, when we next see him in 2x17, he still holds some sort of resentment towards her. it’s probably just him projecting his insecurities, but still. he seems upset she figured out his learning disability and he gets buffy in trouble when he really didn’t have to. the moment i find strange is when he talks to buffy and tells her he’s back on the team. he’s not really trying to rub it in, but the way he tells buffy coleman wants to talk to her is interesting to me, like he’s aware what’s about to happen to her and he’s feigning pity. but then, as buffy puts together that tj has been manipulating her, he looks genuinely upset, and ashamed. and honestly, i don’t even think he necessarily regrets manipulating her at this point, i think he regrets letting buffy figure it out because he knows she’s gonna be mad at cyrus. i do think that later, this causes him to reflect on his actions a lot more and realize what he’s been doing.
the next he’s mentioned is that he signs buffy’s time capsule basketball, and then we next see him apologize to time capsule buffy. i wonder if he and cyrus had spoken since buffy left and if that played a part in his apology, because his apology in 2x21 while technically aimed at buffy, was mostly for andi, to show that he understands the impact of his actions and his remorse. because in 2x25 the approach is completely different for real buffy. he uses his actions to back up his words and chooses a completely different way of apologizing. we know cyrus orchestrated tj and buffy’s 1v1, i wouldn’t be suppressed if he also orchestrated tj’s apology to andi.
at the end of the day, tj’s change in character is hugely owed to cyrus, that’s no secret, but it’s very interesting to watch that weird time span where he’s realizing he wants to be different and learning how to achieve it and letting cyrus help him.
