really struck by how claudia grieving madeleine seems to be the thing that gets most to lestat during the seance. he only starts to cry when claudia tells them that she can’t find her companion, that’s she’s been alone this entire time. and of course this is what would get to him. the thing he fears the most is loneliness. so knowing that his daughter found a companion only to lose her again in death. it’s devastating

Ya know what would be so fucked? If we saw the scene where Carol’s mom tells her she’s sending her to conversion camp and it’s legit the same exact scene as when she found out the hive stole her eggs. “If you loved me you wouldn’t do this” “We’re doing this because we love you”

I don’t understand people who try to remove Stursia’s complexity in their analysis. (Outside of the fun properly tagged AU fics you do you) like for me at least part of the draw is just that it’s soooooooo fucked up and complex. It’s like fully nonconsensual on both sides. It could go anywhere! A hivemind in the body of a woman who for all we know may not even know this happening is being used to manipulate this woman who’s deep in grief whose wife they killled! No one is consenting really even though technically they both are. That’s so fascinating! The hive has heir own physical experiences so Zosia is the only one physically experiencing this! Will that affect her at all? As an individual? Will it affect the hive? How does Carol deal with the fact that she’s fallen in love with both the hive, her wife AND the MEMORIES of this woman who she’s never even met! IN THE BODY OF A WOMAN WHO LOOKS LIKE HER OC! And even whenever Zosia is unhived it’ll still be messed up! Even if Zosia is understanding of how the hive manipulated Carol and even if she doesn’t blame her and so doesn’t hate her their relationship is gonna be WEIRD and unbalanced especially if Zosia retains any of Helen’s memories! How can you watch a show like that and wanna simplify it into a fluffy fun relationship!

i'll be honest it gets kind of annoying when ppls immediate canned response to an m/f ship is "she deserves better" because over half the people who say that then proceed to hyperfocus on some yaoi with the man involved and never give the woman a second glance. forgive me but i think she deserves better than being girlbossed off screen and never mentioned again

I say it all the time but Rachel Reid is funny. The road/rhodes scholar comment with Shane and Hayden is one of my all time favorites, second only to Ilya saying “Cliff can barely count to three” during all-stars in TLG which leads to one of my favorite problematic headcanons which is that both Ilya and Shane have like not-like-other-girls/chosen one attributes of being smarter than all the hockey players around them. Not like, book smart or anything, but just like foundational knowledge.

if you spoke to lestat or louis about your pain, they would say, "your pain? what about MY pain?" but if you spoke about your pain to armand he would say "let me lobotomize you and you will never feel pain again." he has a solution-based mindset and we could all learn from him.

TVL is some of the densest writing I have ever seen on a tv show. The writers treat every single line like it needs to be doing three jobs at once - foreshadowing, character work AND a callback to something said in season one. No show is above criticism and when all is said and done i'll have my own critiques of season 3 but the quality of the writing or the writers room not understanding these characters is not one of them. you WILL need the rewatch. you WILL need to pay attention or you miss something important or misunderstand the characters. they will not hand it to you easily.

by the way i hope joseph potter is getting his tens because holy shit his acting as nicholas is soooo absolutely incredible. i was near-giddy every time he was on the screen. and the breakdown he had before and during the chopping off of his hand? gods....incredible performance, i cant wait to see more of him. i wish we could've seen his death scene but im hoping we'll get to see more of him as vampire outside of hallucinations.
