In 2026, the chicest thing a gay actor can do is never explicitly come out as gay but also make it abundantly clear that he is. Coming out is too modern. Staying closeted is too old fashioned. But this method merges contemporary freedom with Old Hollywood glamour and allure, and it weeds out the dumbest people who truly donât get it. I call it the Pascal Method.
Taylor Swift does this
no she doesnât
You clearly don't go here or to queer history and signaling, or both, enough to have this conversation and I'm not going to explain it to you. You could have asked questions, you could have done even a modicum of research. You didn't and you made yourself look ignorant. Goodbye.

In episode 6 of The Testaments, Lydia basically acknowledges that Gilead programmed her to deny connections with other women and become complicit in the oppression, murder and torture of other women because it was her only route for survival. She also says that she knows she is doing the same to the Plums and Pinks now.
It actually reminded me a lot of (what I think is) the first time we see Lydia truly lose composure in The Handmaid's Tale. Essentially: 1) June refers to Emily as "gay" rather than saying she was a gender traitor (in a small way, standing with another woman even knowing there would be a cost). 2) Lydia shocks June with the taser-stick thing and tells June to "remember her scripture". 3) June quotes the beatitudes saying "blessed are those who suffer for the cause of righteousness", which of course is going to set Lydia off because, as we see, when Lydia had to choose between suffering and dying or shooting her friend and supporting Gilead in order to live, Lydia chooses the latter and goes on to join the system that would hurt so many other women. 4) Lydia loses it and starts wailing on June, but is stopped by Serena (who admittedly only gets involved because she thinks June is pregnant) who literally shields June with her own body. So it's not even just that June is an absolute nightmare of a handmaid - it's also that so many of her choices to stand with other women or oppose the system unknowingly shame Lydia. It becomes hard to say you had no choice when you see someone making the terrible choice you could not and taking the consequences. I also don't think it is an accident that in the same episode we see Lydia's flashback, the fallout from Shunammite defending Becka, and (if I heard correctly) the girls quoting the beatitudes ("blessed are those who mourn") in response to Penny's death.
a few of my favorite light-hearted moments from the testaments:
âsketch us, it will last longerâ and âswim UPâ shdhsjk i love shu so much
when agnes was standing in line looking back at becka and smiling then aunt vidala smacked her but then she went right back to looking back and smiling at becka
âdoes your pearl girl always have to sit with usâ
âno youâll look adorable⌠you always doâ thatâs when i knew exactly what becka was
shu telling hulda she hasnt been made fruitful yet because she could use with growing up and hulda being like is that why you arent either shsgjskk
âthe terrorist?!â lmao agnes was so appalled
My fave was Daisy saying they had lovely weather that day and Becka going âWhich we already received with graceâ đ

The contrast in episode 6 between the flashback events and the current events, especially in the lighting and acting, especially when it cuts between Huldaâs administration and the nighttime stadium scene is so Jarring. I was scared that they would sanitise gilead because of this trend in the last couple years of shows being scared of presenting dark subjects seriously/realistically. But theyâve used the contrast between the sheltering of these girls and the violence enacted on the generation before them and everyone outside of their bubble to show the many different ways that gilead exerts controls over people.
Lydia saying âI donât know what Agnes wantsâ while she holds a picture of Becka is crazy work
she then says ânot yetâ so maybe some beckagnes foreshadowingâŚ
i miss you carol sturka
Two things I love about this scene:
When they learn about the Sentry project, they all start to develop a protective attitude towards Bob because they know Valentina is going to try to use him and they know what it's like to be used by her. They don't want the same thing to happen to him
They all start bonding and you can see the real John come out, not the overly defensive one who hides behind his bravado. He starts looking after the girls by getting them food and then jokes around with them about Dr. Phil, and you can tell he's developing a soft spot for them. I don't know if he has actual younger siblings in canon but personally to me it feels like he instinctively steps into big brother mode đĽş

whenever i see an asterisk i assume its a thunderbolts* reference which is becoming a major issue whenever im reading completely unrelated fanfiction or engaging with other media
When I was in highschool back in 2018, all the graduating seniors got a poll to fill out for various preferences on our graduation. The only thing I actually remember from it, though, was the different options for what song would be played at the ceremony. When I saw halfway down the list that "All Star" by Smashmouth was an option, I knew that whatever I chose would be a pointless vote (this was peak Shrek meme era). So of course I went with the herd and chose the Shrek song. When graduation rolled around, everyone was giggling about it, waiting for it to be played as we all walked down to grab our diplomas or whatever. However, that is not what occurred. God, they could have not done it worse. I shit you not, I absolutely fucking shit you not when I say this. I swear on my mother's and first born's life that they brought out the poor, poor fucking choir kids to fucking acapella (badly because that choir teacher had a hard on for opera) All Star. Oh my god. I still don't even know what to say
