Influencers are an attempt to weaponize what sales executives have long been aware of, that word-of-mouth is the most effective form of advertisement. The point of an influencer is to create a persona that passes the sniff test of legitimacy, of being a 'real' person, while also selling you something. It's why every single "make my kid's lunch" or "get ready with me" tiktok drops a name brand or two, just in passing. That's what an influencer is, not someone that shitposts all day and makes indie games.
