Intelligent alien species based on bugs but specifically those moths that don’t have mouths and only live for a week after they pupate. This species’ whole conscious life is actually in the larval phase; larvae are the ones considered people, larvae are the ones with conscious and complex brains who build society, and each instar of the larva is treated as a different phase of life. Larvae become emotionally and socially and cognitively mature without ever becoming sexually mature. When they pupate, they metamorphose into something different and strange and close to mindless, with no mouth and no digestive system, whose only instincts are to mate and then quickly die. Metamorphosis is treated, functionally, like a person’s death, and the imago phase is a kind of proto-afterlife of majestic flight and the continuation of the species. Birth and death inextricably intertwined. Sex is not something people do during their lives, it’s a thing that is done as an imago after you’ve passed on from your life but before you return to the soil in death. Resultant eggs are collected by family members to raise. I think this would be fun.

My wife and I volunteer at a community fridge and one of our policies is that we don’t judge what people take or how they take it. There’s a lot of disrespect going to on with the property and occasionally people take all of the food at once, and I’ve had people say Things about my Gender, but the minute you start telling people they can’t come to the fridge or they can’t take food, you’re fucking up the whole idea.
Over time, that continued kindness of just. Cleaning it. Turning up. Restocking the fridge and the larder. Not chasing people away for using it as a meeting spot or to smoke or drink. Saying hello as people turn up. Showing up at the farmer’s market to bring home the extra and be amongst the crowd.
It gathers interest, people help. The community joins in and starts to donate and begins to take a little pride in what was built. Maybe the guy that called me a tranny one time has started acting a little more sheepish around me and maybe he’ll take that lesson going forward.
When you let people be human and fuck up and let those discomforts interact in a way where nobody is going to corner anybody, they start to put their guard down. When they start to put their guard down and get to know you, they have a person to refer to when they’re thinking of other people like you. And maybe they see that other person as more human because of the human they know.

here's a hint: in the phrase "trans intracommunity rape and sexual assault," the more illuminating qualifier is "intracommunity," not "trans."
most rape and sexual assault is committed by someone the victim knows. this is a form of that. marginalized communities form bonds of implicit trust and familiarity and these become vectors for abuse.
in a recent post i referenced the issue of sexual assault between autistic residents of group homes, a deep systemic problem. one that, much like sexual assault between trans people, is all too common. this pattern repeats in pretty much every community of marginalized people, and that's where we can identify similar patterns and share resources and work to heal cycles of sexual harm in solidarity with one another.
i'll say it: there are too many trans people who get loose with consent when all the cis people leave the room. who fail to recognize other trans people as distinct individuals, whose own deep ego wound extends to seeing other trans people as also being a collection of trauma responses pretending to be an ego. seeing other people as people is foundational to consent.
trans people face staggeringly high rates of sexual abuse while growing up. you're not stupid, you know abuse is cyclical. this combination of pre-existing experiences of abuse, implicit trust and familiarity, and dissociated senses of self-and-other is a huge part of what gives rise to the high rates of intracommunity rape and sexual assault.
this is why i find that a sexism-first view of intracommunity sexual assault, while accurate, is frequently insufficient for the task of analysis. i'm a trans woman with eyes, i know that sexism is deeply at play here. but when i focus on "what can be done to arrest these cycles," i keep coming back to this dynamic of abuse in marginalized communities, because ultimately we all deserve the fix. we all deserve the healing and the prevention and the love. in a context that is deeply committed to addressing the sexism but places it alongside addressing the community-wide boundary issues.

The prevailing view of suicide and self harm to most parents is basically rapid onset internet illness. Which is ironic given nearly every single person I know who has self harmed or tried to kill themselves has been in large part because of their family, but also not surprising because yeah no shit they're not going to think about their own personal role in making their property kid miserable.
this also applies to parents (and online onlookers) blaming LLMs, by the way.
kids don't ask chatbots about suicide unless they're already suicidal and have no safe humans to talk to.
