one thing i love about mulder is that his journey from "aliens are real 👽" to "the government is absolutely hiding things from us" is honestly fascinating.

like sir started as the guy everyone thought was paranoid and somehow ended up being the guy who was suspicious of the people who employed him.

the character development is just him becoming increasingly correct and increasingly angry about it.
