Why have quite some people (here) stopped supporting Jonas? Has there been a beef developed between Wout and him, or something like that, that people previously supported him felt betrayed? Or merely the racing style he operates on? I thought Tumblr is a lot less hateful place but I do catch some people are consumed by hate here as well…

I personally have a soft spot on someone who nerves bullies but keeps holding head high and thrive. And for the sake of diversity in racing style, if one wins a pure display of power, the others should seek to beat him/her through knowing one’s own limitations and building strategy around it. Not every sport is WWF wrestling.

I know some were put off by all that happened at last year's TdF, and admittedly I thoroughly disliked the way the whole Trine ordeal was dealt with and the fact that there was no declaration that could sound like a defence of the guys who gave everything for him, including Wout and especially Wout who was targeted more than others, and you could hear from his interviews with Belgian media that he was actually bothered by it all. So I think that played a role.

I do know others were put off by some statements regarding the protests during La Vuelta. I'll be real, I don't remember them anymore. I can only say I was wholly siding with the protests, and I remember people complaining in my asks that it was absolutely useless, and yet!!!

Then again, I don't really read much else because I don't care about it. 😭 Aside from what happened at last year's TdF that truly bothered me, I have no issues with him lol

For sure some people don't like the way he races, but I don't mind it all and honestly there are riders I absolutely despise for their political and ethical stances. He isn't among them, so you need to ask to others.
