one time i was making potato soup and i needed broth for it but i was out of broth. but in my dog food cabinet there was a carton of chicken broth that i had bought for my dog. now the box did say HUMAN GRADE and the ingredients were just bog standard chicken broth. it did say something about joint health for dogs on there. but the ingredients were normal. i even compared the ingredients list to some normal person broth and they were the same. so i did put dog broth in that soup and it did taste completely normal. but i did use the dog broth.
During a high speed car chase pursuit, the FOX 11 Los Angeles helicopter had an unexpected moment when they spotted a rooster and a chicken casually walking down the sidewalk right in the middle of the pursuit.
The fact that they were walking 1-3mph
His joy and whimsy at seeing this
His acknowledgement of it not being as interesting as the chase
His little "huh" cuz you know they told him to focus
there's a family of local sandhill cranes that adopted an abandoned goose last summer and they're STILL together today even after migration.... i love them + they're local celebrities + nature is beautiful

I am sooo tempted to get Warhammer books as french translations, read them as my way to start re-learning french with a translator at one hand and a dictionary at the other, and develop zero grasp between what vocabulary is regular french and what is Warhammer, and if I ever encounter a native speaker I give them psychic damage.
βTourist talks in passable French but sounds like a Space Marineβ would probably be a new one for Parisians
Would it be better or worse than orks? Or better yet, necrons?
I mean that's basically how I learned English so I'd say it's fair game
I am motivated to learn french for the same reason I learned english: they won't learn my language to understand me, and I'm chewing a hole through the language barrier to bite them.
Also it also just occurred to me that I can change the language on the online magic the gathering app to french. Time to relive how it felt like to play english games as a child with no idea what any of the text says.

Fun Real Animal Behaviour to give to dragons: That thing with the birds of prey that hunt by snatching smaller animals from the air or off the ground while in flight, but who have no goddamn idea what to do with you when something is prey-sized, and you're both on the ground, and for some godfrosaken reason you're not scared or avoiding them. So they're just there visibly confused and uncomfortable and have no goddamn clue what the hell to do about this.
would they do the thing elephants do? decide we're cute and pick us up sometimes? is that why they carry off princesses?
For some reason this reminds me of how T. Gondii makes mice charge and dance in front of cats, which the cats find disturbing instead of triggering their hunting instincts.
after a couple hours chopping dried sea urchins into tiny pieces with a razor blade you start referring to the razor blade as yourself in your thoughts. a little while afterwards you'll inevitably think something along the lines of "i'm getting a bit dull, i'm going to have to throw myself out & get myself a new self" at which point your internal monologue has pretty much returned to baseline
This happens with mobility aids too. I bump into shit with my forearm crutches and say "ow" before I realize those are not, in fact, More Legs. Then when I get up and try to walk without them for a second there's a moment of feeling like a dog walking upright
If you find this interesting, look into extended mind/body theory :)

I think thereβs a teaboot(?) post about this with a huge security cam system
Yeah I get twitchy when I don't have my eyes
i hate when a book describes a pause as pregnant. get your dick out of the pause
terry pratchett is the only person who actually knew how to use a pregnant pause
A tragedy in four parts
I love the idea of a roomba topography map being the jumping on point for a liminal horror story. House of Leaves II: Roomba.

getting kicked off love island for just swimming in the pool and not talking to anyone
my friend competed in a Survivor knock-off reality tv contest on a tropical island, and he did exactly this. While everyone was scheming and forming cliques and voting strategically to get rid of the others, he just floated in the sea for weeks.
Weeks into the show they had to like, reintroduce him in the editing because he had just been absent from the show till then; "remember this guy? he's also still here". They started with 60 people or something, and he made it to the final 6, where he lost a balancing game.
It was very funny to watch the crappy show just to see my friend, because most episodes he just didnt feature at all. He didn't stress about winning the big prize or anything, he just treated it as a vacation where he got to chill out for two months and get paid for it. A real icon.
A big part of being a quadruped is being able to just lie down anytime. Waiting? Loaf time. Talking to someone shorter than you? Loaf time. Falling asleep in the sun? Loaf time. Bored? Loaf it up till something interesting happens. Leg hurt? Loaf time.
You wish you were me
I can do it on rocks also
Avian August x Rito-gust Day 1: Northern Lapwing
For August, I think I'll do something similar to last year where I'll draw @cookiedoves' Avian August bird of the day and then create a Rito based on it for @vanali-of-winterfell's @rito-gust. Just headshots probably this year, though; still recovering from Art Fight!

The worst types of cookbook:
The Ottolenghi - it is vital that you use 1g of this very expensive ingredient. It comes from a 500g bag with a one-week shelf life.
The time machine - 15-minute recipe! First, leave to marinate overnight...
The dishwasher - one-pot recipe! Now decant your ingredients and wipe out your pot. And again. And again. And again.
The optimist - cook the onions until caramelised (2 minutes).
The kindergarten teacher - get one nommable little tree of broccoli and bosh that into boiling water. Delish!
The brand names only - ingredients: Ritz crackers, Philadelphia cheese, Cool Whip, orange Jell-o...
The 1950s palate - use one (1) clove of garlic and a small pinch of chili flakes (omit if preferred).
The why bother with a cookbook - to make beans on toast, gently heat a tin of beans and put on top of freshly buttered toast.
gonna do a quick tutorial on early modern english conjugation bc it bugs me to no end when people just do anything:
1. i am
you are
thou art
he/she/it is
[thou is often considered more intimate/informal than βyou,β but this isnβt hard and fast like the modern german du vs Sie]
2. i say
you say
thou sayest
he/she/it says OR sayeth
[in 1649 richard hodges recorded that the -eth conjugation is more typical in written text while the -s conjugation is used in spoken language, but that pattern seems to have been less pronounced in 1600 and before]
3. i do, i have
you do, you have
thou dost, thou hast
he/she/it doth, he/she/it hath
[in an additional corollary, doth and hath seem not to have been subject to the above pattern and existed in both print and speech as the preferred third person conjugation for those words]
and a follow up for thou conjugation:
thou drinkest the juice
it is thy juice, it is thine apple juice
the juice spilleth on thee
thou seest thyself covered in juice
