Everyone struggles with this feeling.Â
But you know exactly how much work you put into your art, how many hours and how much care and love went into your pictures and no matter the amount of likes or retweets you get, you KNOW the worth of your work.
Iâve had this feeling bothering me a lot lately and I know Iâm not alone out there, so hereâs some positivity for all of you from my main artblog!
Apparently when my grandma first came to America she didnât know what a raccoon was and assumed it was a fucked up cat and adopted it. I just imagine this 13 yr old girl with a heavy Eastern European accent being like âthis is my cat, Petr. He is not very friendlyâ
finally
itâs on my dash
every person can feel freddieâs presence in their souls when they sing MAMAAAAAA UUHHHH, I DONT WANNA DIE, I SOMETIMES I WISH IâVE NEVER BEEN BORN AT ALL with all the air in their lungs iâm not joking
itâs fucking crazy to think about the amount of people who have sung bohemian rhapsody? like itâs such a unifying song, by nature of the fact that so many people know it. it holds so many good memories for me and other people. itâs a song you scream in the car with your friends while you drive around your boring hometown, itâs a song you drunkenly sing with your arm around your best friend, or a song you sing along to with strangers when itâs on in public. itâs bittersweet to think about freddieâs legacy carrying on like that through his masterpiece. freddie carries on because heâs a part of so many peopleâs good memories and bohemian rhapsody is a huge part of that.
Reblog if you have sung bohemian rhapsody with your friends
every time i see this post iâm reminded of the video of 65,000 people singing bohemian rhapsody in near-perfect harmony
like, what other song can make that claim?
Some of the highlights of that video include:
The crowd cheering after the first stanza when they realize what theyâre all doing
So many people audibly âdoing the guitar partsâ⊠like ya do
The sheer number of voices joining the rediculous falsetto (thanks, Roger)
How they all start jumping at the ramp-up âso you think you can stomp meâ
Hands up, hundreds, thousands deep for the final âoooooâs and the last line to close the song
Only days before my state went into lockdown, âBohemian Rhapsodyâ came on in the restaurant kitchen Iâd just been hired at and, no shit, every single worker in that little diner started singing along. Me (the only queer afaik), the manager, all the other kitchen workers, the dishwasher up front, the two people on the counter, all but two of the men over 30. Just belting out Freddie Mercury at the top of their lungs. And you can bet when âsometimes I wish Iâd never been born at allâ came around, we every single one of us ramped up the intensity and basically made sure Freddie could hear us in the afterlife.

Anthropology major answer: âThere absolutely was such a time! Modern humans and our ancestors shared territory numerous times over prehistory with cousin species like homo neanderthalensis, homo floresiensis, and many, many others!âÂ
Folklore student answer: âAlso, almost all cultures have something like djinn, faeries, hulder, fox spirits, and other similar creatures who can appear at least human and are very, very dangerous to humans!âÂ
Both of these things are true, and may be connected both to the above and to each other. :D
Mortuary science answer: the âuncanny valleyâ markers resemble the appearance of corpses and decay, therefore we are naturally repulsed by anything that resembles the dead to avoid exposure to decomposition and/or whatever created that appearance.
This leads neatly into the folklore answer too, since many folk creatures are of the undead.
Antique doll nerd answer: but the Uncanny Valley can shift culturally over time! the first âcreepy dollâ movie only came out in the 1930s, and before that, most evidence I can find of people in Europe and America being frightened by dolls was for a specific reason- if a doll had an exaggerated facial expression or a mechanism that broke easily and made a scary noise once damaged, for example
Also itâs important to remember that the Uncanny Valley is a fairly recent theory, and only a theory. Might it be possible that, if you hadnât ever been exposed to the idea that certain types of inanimate humanoid figures are âcreepy,â you wouldnât find them so? that you ARENâT actually predisposed from birth to be spooked by dolls, mannequins, statues, etc?
itâs another example of the nature vs. nurture debate, which I find fascinating
history nerd answer: a lot of the reflexive âoh shit thatâs not humanâ traits are traits of severe infectious disease. tuberculosis and leprosy can both cause facial distortions, for instance. many of the âwalking deadâ type legends are associated with tuberculosis in particular; a late stage patient has the pale skin, prominent cheekbones, and seemingly huge eyes we associate with vampires and the more dangerous kind of fairies.
before the germ theory of disease, people with those traits could apparently just⊠curse you⊠and your family⊠by merely interacting with you. one shared meal with the weird looking stranger and a few months later your whole village starts mysteriously dropping dead.
history channel answer:
Dear everyone above who took on my random thoughts and ran with them: I love you all, and your brains are amazing.

They are not some anonymous âa tribe in Indiaâ, they are the War-Khasi. Speaking as a former anthro student and as a reference librarian, I am beyond sick of posts (and articles, and emails, and museum displays) like this that present the work of a people without actually naming the people. Itâs erasure, itâs reducing the great works of a culture to an Ozymandias-esque curiosity for foreigners to consume rather than an accomplishment that should help bring awareness of that cultureâs existence.Â
They are the War-Khasi, a division of the Khasi, a people who call themselves Hynñiew Trep. They live in Meghalaya, and they have been building these bridges in the town of Cherrapunji for longer than anyone knows. They are not anonymous.
It checks out
22 YEARS AGO ON DECEMBER 18, 1998 - DREAMWORKS ANIMATION RELEASED âTHE PRINCE OF EGYPTâ
Because DreamWorks was concerned about theological accuracy, they decided to call in Biblical scholars, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim theologians, and Arab American leaders to help the film be more accurate and faithful to the original story. After previewing the developing film, all these leaders noted that the studio executives listened and responded to their ideas, and praised the studio for reaching out for comment from outside sources.
The animation team for The Prince of Egypt included 350 artists from 34 different nations. Careful consideration was given to depicting the ethnicities of the ancient Egyptians, Hebrews, and Nubians properly.
Both character design and art direction worked to set a definite distinction between the symmetrical, more angular look of the Egyptians versus the more organic, natural look of the Hebrews and their related environments. The backgrounds department, headed by supervisors Paul Lasaine and Ron Lukas, oversaw a team of artists who were responsible for painting the sets/backdrops from the layouts. Within the film, approximately 934 hand-painted backgrounds were created.

The mental shift between realising this is animated.
there are so many things great about this aside from how hardcore this mosh pit is
- the shield that gets launched into the stratosphere as soon as the armies collide - the guy on the left side who somehow manages to do a complete 180 in all of the mayhem and dives out of frame -the guy on the right side who decides not to get involved and runs right past the camera - the final dude who trips in the least natural way possible
Finally CGI has advanced far enough that we have the ending to Monty Python and the Holy Grail that we deserve

Rum Tum Tugger
The call of an elk is one of the most beautiful sounds Iâve ever heard.
There's a mama cat living in my garage named Felicia. When she first showed up she was almost completely feral. She knew humans dispensed food, and that was about as far as her trust and interest extended for many months.
But y'all, she fucked up. She had kittens in my garage last May. She was at my mercy.
I fed her meat and water while she recovered and nursed. I gently held her babies. She didn't like it, but as I said, she fucked up, because she was too weak from the birth to protest. The weeks passed. Her kittens were fully socialized and grew to be healthy and fluffy little things. Felicia was now comfortable with my presence, probably because I had not yet eaten her babies or anything like that, but touches were a big NO! That was okay by me though. I figured I would just have her spayed and we could remain civil neighbors.
But then she let me pet her.
A few weeks later she started purring and demanding rubs.
And today she let me hold her.
Felicia fucked up. Felicia is a house cat now
Felicia (bottom right) and her babies (that I have not eaten)
I love them so much.
Cats really do adopt people, donât they
Cat: I live here now.
Human: what?
Cat: you are my person.
Human: wait
Cat: love me
Human: okay.
fuck all philosophy except for whatever the hell Diogenes was trying to teach
direct action
How about just being polite & going into a debate with those who hold diffrent beliefs then you?
how about you eat my shit and hair
staying true to spirit
the OG of the vicious burn
DiĂłgenes said you couldnât spit anywhere but in the face of a rich man because once this rich dude invited him into his house and literally told him you canât spit on anything that touches the floor so DiĂłgenes spit in this guys face
here is a very good painting of DiĂłgenes in his tub that i had the good fortune of actually seeing earlier this year
I love that Diogenes is making a comeback in the twenty-first century.
Diogenes also attended many of Platoâs lessons, not because he was interested or even to debate him but he would bring food with him and purposefully eat obnoxiously loud

broken signs
Aries: becomes less talkative, watching others and observing, irritated easily, might give up on things or seem lazy
Taurus: irregular eating habbits, more quiet and thinking, tired, if you see the, crying itâs really bad
Gemini: might come off as rude or ignorant, tends to isolate themselves from others, talks much less then usual
Cancer: sometimes they can become very angry, screams and pushes people away from them, emotional rollercoaster, either binge eating or lack of food
Leo: angry, looks like they donât want to talk to you and they donât, can come off as rude, not as talkative/loud as usual, doesnât really laugh and can be very pesimistic
Virgo: lack of sleep, might avoid people and overally talk much less, looks and acts tired, can be rude, doesnât care about other peopleâs feeling at that very moment
Libra: looks tired, will probably try to talk to you about their problems but then will say something like âahh donât worry about it :)â, not as happy and optimistic as they usually are
Scorpio: will take everything personally, might be sarcastic or rude, complains, might actually cry in front of you, wonât tell you if they need help or a hug, tries to act normal
Sagittarius: stops caring, almost doesnât laugh, distant from people, doesnât really talk, might as well just disappear for a few days and you wonât know where theyâve gone
Capricorn: you can see it in their face, doubts everything they do, wants to talk about it but doesnât know how, very quiet
Aquarius: can be rude, becomes more introverted; stays at home if they can, doesnât talk to people, irregular sleeping
Pisces: maybe the most distant out of all signs, might avoid talking to people, can cry often but you wonât know, doesnât care about things they normally do care about
Wages in the US have become wildly, fantastically unshackled from the costs of doing business, and theyâve been that way for decades. Weâve been told our entire lives that the world is such a way, and that itâs the Natural Normal result of things working the way they Have to work.
Itâs a lie. Itâs been a lie the entire time. They just Started Lying one day and didnât stop until everyone who knew better died, gave up, or got their voice drowned out in all the noise.
You canât tell me a combo at any fast food restaurant hasnât doubled in price since the 90âs. Guess how much minimum wage has increased....
1) if food prices go up if wages go up, complain about CEOs not taking the cut, not the workers who need the money to pay their rent
2) smash this idiot idea that itâs only high school kids working minimum wage jobs: who do you think is making you your Starbucks at 12 pm? The highschool kids are all in highschool, idiot. At my retail store where people make minimum wage, we have no staff under 25 years old right now, about half the staff have families, they are all making minimum wage.
3) these people are providing you goods and services that are important and you want. You want a burrito. You want a coffee. Why on earth should the people providing us essential services not make enough money to pay their rent and their bills? Explain to me why this group of people deserves to live in poverty?
4) these jobs are not âunskilledâ as in theyâre easy to do and any asshole could do them. They are working harder than any prick sitting in an office chair all day.
5) Canada has raised its minimum wage. My province has had a minimum wage of $15 per hour for four years. Burritos do not cost $30 here, no one has gone out of business because they canât afford to pay their workers anymore. What HAS happened is that I can now afford to live with my kids in my own apparent and not have to share it with my sister and her kids, I can afford to actually buy things, I can afford to cook healthy food and replace my shoes when they fall apart. The extra money I am making goes straight back into the local economy. My health and the health of my kids will be better and we will cost our government less. Donât be a fucking idiot.
Fuck every single asshole who ever shits on minimum wage workers, ESPECIALLY these days after the pandemic when we all screamed about wanting to go out and get a coffee during lockdown. Fuck every single one of you with a rusty rake.
Reblogging for rottenbrainstuffâs excellent response.
