imagine going to work as a construction worker for a whole day but then you realize you don't remember what you did for work the entire day when you meet up with your boss at the end of the day. a wad of cash is given to you for doing something you don't even remember doing (and you're sure you didn't have any kind of memory issues before you took whatever job it is that you're taking, plus you always forget specifically about what you did for work not anything else in your life). your boss tells you what you did when you ask in a daze, but it doesn't sound real because you don't remember anything about the work, but you have no choice but to believe what they say you did that entire day.
maybe you'll keep working because you're still getting money for whatever you're doing, but for all you know you could be murdering people and having your memories erased at the end of the day so you don't slip up with the police or something. or your boss could be crossing your boundaries and getting away with it because of your weird selective memory.
even if it does give you money, would you feel safe/secure doing this job?
