Jevin!!! I love this guy
The dynamic change between Ros, Pangi and Pili after today is so so interesting and dear to me.
Ros offering to help Pangi seems like a peace offering despite her problems with him and despite her skill. She's the reluctant participant but she has something to prove. However she unknowingly breaks the olive branch by a punch in the gut that she doesn't fully understand or even mean in the way it's perceived. As for the book, being cryptic seems like a way for her to exercise some control over the situation which seemed dwindling a bit ago.
Pili just began improving his relation with Ros. With, Pangi and Ros relationship being strained - he somehow became the person holding the dynamic toegther. The way Pili keeps healing Ros during the fight is a complicated decision. Is it an olive branch - or a reflex decision - or maybe an act of trust? But the fight showed that Ros needed Pili to survive. There's a power balance that Pili is keenly aware of even if Ros isn't. From Pili's perspective, everything about Ros feels so convenient - why does she get the book? The butterfly? special treatment by the realm keepers?
Lastly, Pangi's aggression towards Ros throughout the day is so layered. He spent the entire day getting told by multiple people that Ros is gonna kill him - even after he had explained his reasonings for killing Tubbo to her. The tower incident where Pangi kept insisting how hypocritical he felt their reasoning was. Then after Pangi helps save her in the fight - her words to him are "I wanted to kill you". Those words are like a verbal grenade which is just exacerbated by the book incident. It's not just frustration- it's the feeling of being denied something he feels entitled to considering all the other books Ros felt no qualms showing him or were meant for him. This tension between wanting connection but fearing betrayal is what does him in.
Tl;dr the aggression simmering between these three is so, so good because it's all coming from different places. Ros feels isolated and defensive, Pangi is struggling with trust and self-preservation, and Pili is frustrated by what seems like an unfair system. They are just trying to survive in their own ways. It's messy, and it's painful but it's so so tragically beautiful.
