Might I recommend a movie? It's called Aniara, it's a toxic doomed yuri movie in space.
Curious if this is on the basis of my weapons liveblog? Or just cause I’m into horror and gay shit?
I’m obsessed with the poster so good first impression:
From Wikipedia, “Aniara is a 2018 Swedish-Danish science fiction film directed and written by Pella Kågerman and Hugo Lilja. The film is an adaptation of the 1956 Swedish epic poem of the same name by Harry Martinson. The film is set in a dystopian future where Earth has been rendered uninhabitable, prompting mass migration from Earth to Mars. When one such routine trip veers off course, the passengers of the Aniara struggle to cope with their new lives.”
I love the idea of a sci-fi adapted from an epic poem? Let’s fucking go
HOW GRIM IT ALWAYS IS, ONE'S DETONATION
watched Aniara (2018) over the weekend and hooooooly shit i need more people to see this movie and just kinda stare off into the distance with me for a while after it ends. ‘year 10: the jubilee’ was some of the best bleak sci-fi i’ve ever seen. the last twelve minutes of the movie flicked my nips right off jesus christ
wowza i thought this movie was about mars colonization & space madness but big thanks to the redditor in charge of keywords for letting me know that there's more fun to be had than what i was expecting i guess!

fascinated by aniara as a film with no real twists or turns or mappable plot structure whatsoever just a slow sickening decay. like sealing an animal in an airtight container and sitting back to watch it suffocate to death
now we have fathomed what our space-ship is –a tiny bubble in a glass of God.
Aniara: An Epic Science Fiction Poem by Harry Martinson
Aniara (2018) The surface level horror comes from being lost in space with no way home, but there are themes of the meaninglessness of life and mankind’s insignificance in the face of an infinite and uncaring universe which are definitely themes of The Vast.
The plot concerns a three-week trip on a luxury space liner from a dying Earth to terraform Mars, but which is knocked off course, sending the ship drifting away into the unknown. The captain assures the passengers that they can resume the journey by slingshotting around a large object, but as the weeks turn into months and years, discontentment grows and people become desperate for an escape, including developing cults or turning to suicide as the only way out.
From Wikipedia: "In year 24 of the voyage, the Mimarobe and a few remaining survivors sit cross-legged in a dimly lit room. An unidentified woman in the group rhapsodizes about the divine power of sunlight on Earth, as the ship descends into a final darkness.
In year 5,981,407 of its voyage, the Aniara – derelict, frozen, and devoid of human life – reaches the Lyra constellation and drifts right past a planet as verdant and welcoming as Earth once was."
Vertigo (1958) From Wikipedia: Vertigo is a 1958 American psychological thriller film produced and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The story was based on the 1954 novel D'entre les morts (From Among the Dead) by Boileau-Narcejac, with a screenplay by Alec Coppel and Samuel A. Taylor. The film stars James Stewart as a former San Francisco police detective who has retired after an incident in the line of duty caused him to develop an extreme fear of heights, accompanied by vertigo. He is hired as a private investigator to report on the strange behavior of an acquaintance's wife (Kim Novak).
…It was the first film to use the dolly zoom, an in-camera effect that distorts perspective to create disorientation, to convey Scottie's acrophobia; the technique is often referred to as "the Vertigo effect" in reference to its use in the film.
