I had one of those days where you feel very made up because I just was in my tracksuit speaking to Olivia Cooke and Paddy Considine and it was really wicked.
listen. aging into your thirties rocks. yes your joints get a little creaky. yes you canât sleep in a pretzel on the floor anymore after a concert or a convention. and you lose some friends. but the thing is that you sort out who your real friends are and you sort out who you really are. and you get to see your friends settling into careers they like, and adopt new dogs and cats, and you find a job you can stand, and get really good at arts and crafts, and maybe that book you loved as a kid gets a movie deal and it doesnât suck, and you learn to like new food and bake your own bread, and you realize that the great portfolio of self harm scars you all used to curate are going white with age and not updated, and half your friends are a different gender now and so much happier and maybe you are too, and you know who you are, and that itâs a journey and not a revelation. itâs a direction youâre headed, and youâre enjoying the trip.
reaching your 30â˛s rocks. and iâm hearing good things about what comes next, too.
i am looking into your eyes, i am holding your hand. i absolutely promise.
if you can just live long enough, your soul will build your body into a home. you will live there and you will find a way to be at peace. itâs worth the time and itâs worth the work. i promise.
Your soul will build your body into a home.
Seriously guys. Hold out until your thirties, it gets so much better. You get to be yourself, and no one can stop you
And more than that, wait until your 40s and 50s, when you stop caring what naysayers think about who you are because you KNOW, and you are ok with it. Wait until you realise that even at the unimaginable age of 50 (and beyond!) you are still a changing, growing, learning human being, only now you can just let so much bullshit go (shame, fearâŚ) and just live into your greatest loves. Wait until you find your people and start to feel like you have something to give because you arenât just barely holding yourself together anymore. Wait until the love you feel is freer, less greedy and grasping and more just a thing that gloriously exists and lights you up from the inside, like your heart is a hearth that the people you love warm themselves by.
Itâs true. Keep going. I feel like Iâm finally ready to live my life fully at 34.

You have been sentenced to death in a magical court. The court allows all prisoners to pick how they die and they will carry it out immediately. You have it all figured out until the prisoner before you picks old age and is instantly transformed into a dying old man. Your turn approaches.
I think Iâd have minded less if Iâd committed a truly heinous crime. Something that warranted death. Or even if I was the kind of person who would enjoy flinging a last defiance at my execution.
It was all just a show, anyway. They did it every year. They brought out a selection of criminals, and the Sorcerer who ruled us showed his power by bringing about their deaths by magic. Just to show, every year, what happened to anyone who crossed him.
There was a time, probably, when the people he executed really were rebels or assassins. In latter days he had to take what the dungeons offered. I was dragged up in chains between a pickpocket, sobbing in terror, and a man whoâd killed another man in a brawl. There were few criminals of any note, by then. So instead of choosing the wickedest criminals, they chose based on appearance. The man whoâd been in the brawl had a face like a clenched fist, and looked like a ruffian. The pickpocket, aging and with hands beginning to tremble, was a different kind of example. As was I.
âThere arenât many pretty ones, this year,â the man who chose me had said, examining me. âBut this one will do. Not young, but not old, a woman, well-favoured enough for the gallows⌠what was her crime?â
The warder shrugged. âShe tried to kill one of the sheriffs.â
The man looked down at me and I shrugged. âI hit him with a washing stick, because he tried to extort money from me, and he was a baby about it.â I refused to treat this as anything but pathetic, even after my sentencing. âI didnât even break any bones.â
âTreason, then,â the man said, nodding. âAttacking the servants of the law. That will look well on the list. Send her.â
I had been debating ever since what to choose. Something quick? Something painless? I considered demanding that I suffer the attack I supposedly made on the sheriff, but then I realized the Sorcerer would only give me what the man had said I was going to do, and that was not a pleasant way to die. I had all but decided on something swift and relatively painless. Beheading with the sharpest of blades sounded good. It would be quick.Â

I made this callout meme for me and me specifically
the tiktokification of ao3
or: some of you fundamentally misunderstand ao3 and it really, really shows
i was talking about this with a friend a few days ago and since then i've seen multiple posts of various sorts that have just made me think about it more, so. here is me breaking down a disconnect i see particularly with younger members of the marauders fandom (i say marauders specifically just bc that's the only one i'm plugged into):
Quotes from the Everything Everywhere All At Once Directorsâ commentary, part 1 of 2
OMG there was only one bed AND THEY GOT ENOUGH SLEEP
me, quietly whispering to the ao3 page of an author who doesnât even know I exist: I am obsessed with you
me, whispering to the ao3 page of an author who hasnât updated anything in four years: I think about you often and I hope youâre alright
