The long-gestating Warhammer 40,000 series has received a huge new update.
The game, which is also known as Warhammer 40K and is produced by Games Workshop, is a miniature wargame set in a distant future where the remaining dregs of humanity are under siege by supernatural and extraterrestrial threats. In 2022, Amazon MGM Studios acquired the rights to adapt the game, which were brought to them by Vertigo Entertainment and Batman v Superman star Henry Cavill. Cavill is set to star in the upcoming Prime Video Warhammer 40K series, in addition to executive producing, though the project has been slow to come to fruition.
In their latest annual report, Games Workshop revealed that the Warhammer 40K series has now been boarded by United Artists and Mike Flanagan. Flanagan has already completed outlines for the story and "should soon be moving on to script." While their announcement indicated that this movement does not necessarily mean that the show will be debuting soon, as "these adaptations will take years to bring successfully to market," it is a major step forward.
