repatriating the artifacts in the british museum except i give them to whichever country has historically been the greatest enemy of the country of origin. there's not enough hate in the world
Robbing the British Museum and then just giving everything back to the British is crazy
i do think lobbying for data centres over climate goals should be considered a crime against humanity btw
You ever think about many peices of media have zero women and thats just perfectly normal but if a peice of media has an all female cast people get... like that? Women should be allowed to kill over this btw
same but it's black people
That's right
They were nuked for this

men will do literally anything other than engaging in pro-social community-oriented behavior and then get online and complain about how masculinity is vilified and men aren't allowed to be heroes anymore
"all men really want is to feel like the hero" okay then volunteer at a food bank. get narcan training. step in when a woman is being harassed on the street. help out an elderly neighbor with shopping or home repairs. learn how to safely de-escalate fights. help your friends move. join or start your workplace union. become a big brother or volunteer coach for kids' sports. clean up your local park or get involved in some local conservation campaign. do your own damn dishes. notice what needs to be done and then do it. the world doesn't need heroes, it needs helpers. there are literally so many paths to finding a sense of self-respect and worth through pro-social behaviors that improve your immediate local community and help build your network of close personal connections. but these guys don't give a shit about actually contributing anything to the world. they just want to whine and fantasize.
their inherent lack of self-respect is belied not only by the fact that they can't imagine doing anything that contributes to building a better, more resilient society, but how they can't imagine that doing so might involve a lot of small acts and choices and not one big act of heroism that gets them on the news as Big Man Of The Year.
in case anyone was curious. he still has it

you have so much paper
itβs okay to function as intended
you are not out of ink
i just refilled that cartridge last month

I bet it feels soooooo good to be a construction worker on a completely closed off chunk of road
This makes me literally so happy
As a traffic control person (the ones actually doing the closing of the road) I would like to submit that its fun for us too. My job is stop sign and today I also get bonus task of shake head at cars. No you cannot go here, see I put cones in the way so now you have to turn around. They are doing stuff over there. No I dont know what kind of stuff, I am a stop sign.
This June, I need Gen Z queers to understand that some people are closeted.
I am saying this as a Gen Z queer, before yβall get your guns out to fucking shoot me.
But I need yβall to understand that if someone doesnβt give you their government name in a queer space, itβs not because theyβre βmysterious,β and you do not have permission to take it upon yourself to figure out their βreal identityβ and go digging for them online like a private investigator. First, thatβs creepy and a violation of privacy and reasonable boundaries. Second, some of us keep our private and professional lives very separate because we need to keep food on the fucking table and a roof over our heads, and our private life could jeopardize that.
βWhy wonβt you tell me about your parents?β βWhy canβt I know your real name?β βWhere do you work?β
1.) Not all our parents would bake us a fucking cake when we come out. Some of us are closeted. Surely you understand this? You also do not need to know my parentβs names or occupations; we are both adults. I do not need nor want to mix you and my private life with my parents and my public life.
2.) Trans people do not owe you their dead name or government name
3.) Iβm not telling you for the sake of job security. I am a government fucking caseworker working amidst a fucking lavender panic!
βThereβs no way youβre a different person outside this; youβre still you at your core. What harm is thereββ
No, I am a completely different person. A different person with a different personality and different interests and a different name and presentation. I am a completely different person because I keep this life and my public life private to avoid fracturing 90% of my interpersonal relationships and 100% of my professional ones.
βYouβre not out? But youβre so confident.β
Seeβ thatβs part of the issue. Yβall assume someone is in the closet because they hate themselves or lack self-identity. Some of us know exactly who we are, but need to prioritize financial stability or else our entire life gets exponentially harder immediately.
You meet queer people over the age of 40 and one of the first/earliest questions is βwho knows?β
I need yβall to start bringing that energy. Because itβs not always safe for someone to be out and not everyone is safe to be out around.
There is a misnomer that βthe closetβ inherently means βdoesnβt know theyβre queerβ and not βisnβt out widely and publicly.β βOutnessβ is often a patchwork.

An archivist found a long forgotten 8mm film reel in an old metal box, marked βPhilippines 1942β. Thinking it was lost WWII footage, he sent it in to be restored/digitized. When he got the footage back, he found puppies instead (via)
This is so freaking profound. Like, this was before the advent of the personal camera. Not just anyone owned a camera in these days. Cameras were expensive, and so was the film. When you were recording shit, it had to be stuff you were willing to shell out a pretty penny to have preserved. Someone so deeply and profoundly loved these dogs and found joy in them that they decided to preserve them for future generations to see, after these pups are long dead and gone. This camera operator wanted to preserve the joy these dogs brought them and to share it with others. How incredible is that?
I genuinely wonder if people realize how many projects get abandoned because the readership "wasn't there", when in reality, the readership just stayed silent. It's a big thing in trad pub that book series get discontinued because readers pirate the books or wait until the series is finished to buy a copy, leading the publisher to think that nobody actually wants the book enough to continue the series, but it happens with indie creators too.
I've discontinued a lot of free, online series because it's not worth putting 3-5 hours a week into posting a project for no readers. Sometimes I finish the series for me but just never post it again, other times I don't finish it at all because it feels more worthwhile to put my time into other things. Sometimes I hear from readers who are sad or upset that I didn't finish something they were liking, but the *reason* it never got finished is because I didn't know anyone liked it. If you like something, tell the creator, tell your friends, make some noise about it. If you would be sad if a story never finished, make that interest known because one of my biggest considerations before discontinuing a series is "will people miss this? Will I be letting people down" and 9/10 times, I come to the conclusion of "no, it doesn't even seem like anyone's reading this" only to learn after I've moved on that apparently someone was.
I've said this before in a different way, and this post said it so well. With real examples. If you like something, tell people.
If you want more content from an artist or author, if you like their stuff, tell them. It will give them creative fuel to keep going. And often it gives them other resources as well. Recommend a work to other people. Leave a comment or a review. It doesn't have to be long, just genuine, a sentence or two. Not many people know that a book's success is judged by book reviews as well as sales. Review the book on Amazon or another site to help it pass the metric of success and be recognized by publishers and retailers.
you know what really helps you locate any small paper cuts you might have forgotten you have? putting your hand in a bucket of acid. cool things I learned today
Why. If I may ask. Why would you Do That
I buy citric acid crystals in bulk and mix them with water to make a bath for cleaning aquarium equipment. and then sometimes I reach in with my bare hand to take things out because I am fundamentally the kind of person who would do that
You have. The. Dream job
this is not my job, I just have an aquarium
DO YOU HAVE FISH????
yes that is who lives in the aquarium
this has the energy of a world heritage post
do I come to your blog and curse your bloodline
OP can we see your aquarium please?
