white t girl i love you. and also do not forget that you are not the modern martyr for the oppressed voice. that's still black girls. it's always been black girls. stories of black martyrdom simply don't make it into the news cycle until the unrest caused by its reporting can be packaged as a "riot" segment between traffic reports. i know you suffer, but whatever you're experiencing, i beg you, when interacting with your community and building nuanced understandings of each other and the system which binds us, to not forget that a black tgirl has felt it 100 times worse before positioning yourself as an authority on all systems of oppression for having suffered unjustly at all. because you have suffered unjustly, but suffering unjustly as a white person means something so much different.
serenely reblogging this once more after deleting responses from white people saying "talking about this is actually unhelpful because im oppressed too" yeah i know. i wrote that down in the post i made, and i also wrote down why remembering the difference is important. did you read it?
there is no malice in my reminder. no "you need to do better", just a reminder. do not read it as such. i didn't write it as such.
again. i did not say you were not oppressed. this post is literally about how you are oppressed. it is a reminder that you are not the most oppressed person in the world, a way i've seen a lot of white transfems acting lately. maybe not even necessarily in a detrimental way, but in a way that definitely leans towards the "white is default" lane of thinking, which erases black suffering, which erases progress towards black safety. this, to me, is troubling, which is why i made this post. it's important when building solidarity within our community to understand who the most vulnerable of us are, because the safety of the most vulnerable of us will ultimately be the safety of all of us.
please do not be offended when you are reminded that your skin is white. im not calling you evil. im asking you to remain aware of yourself.
Oh hey I wrote a small essay on exactly this back when I was still being kind and calmly explaining things to yakubian devils
Share via: Facebook X (Twitter) LinkedIn More Something that white folks with one or more [âŚ]
wow, look at that, a black trans woman saying the exact thing i said, except she said it a year ago and it didnt get as much traction.
"weird! i wonder why!" she exclaimed, whitely.
please read it. it's not long.
Thing is that Iâm not the only Black trans woman writing theory on transfeminism, Black transfeminism, or trans intersectionality - Iâm just lightskinned and wonât shut up so Iâm one of the most visible ones, and crackers STILL get mad at me for saying the most basic-ass concepts like âwhite people are still white even if theyâre otherwise marginalizedâ
In many cases, intracommunity racial intersectionality fails because given the choice between solidarity with nonwhite trans people and white people (trans or cis), white trans people will almost always side with other whites in the hopes of preserving a degraded position within white supremacy, because they internally see being âlesserâ within whites supremacy but still above nonwhites as preferable to solidarity with nonwhites that loses them that positionality.
I wanna toss this link on here because itâs directly related to the whole âlack of intracommunity solidarity when race is involvedâ thing and has a specific example from my local community.
đŹ 0  đ 132  â¤ď¸ 218 ¡ 100% agreed, but I also want to bring up a similar concern specific to Black transfemmes: the intersection of gendered
if i reblog nothing else for juneteenth i wanted to make sure i brought this one back
watching someone start reblogging transmisandry bullshit is like seeing them get hacked by a scambot. will you stop.. for me
when people say misandry or androphobia or whatever aren't real they aren't being pedantic about your language. believing misandry is real is ideological poison. the second you attribute the real oppression you face to some "anti-male prejudice" you have given up your ability to understand and fight the actual power structures causing it. any bit of time and energy you spend arguing that women don't have it as bad as they say they do is time and energy you aren't spending on anything actually productive. wake up

the countermeasure to dehumanisation is not sexualisation. the countermeasure is to treat the other person with respect and dignity actually.
i don't care if you wanna fuck fat people or hairy people or trans people or the elderly or disabled people or whatever. can you treat them like human beings
Evergreen!đđž
Race isnât mentioned in this post, but Iâm sure it applies regardless. Take the screenshot in context to both that and the groups mentioned above.
Ah, Trans Representation:
Jumpscare! That hot chick had a cock! This incident is about how everyone except her feels about it.
This is Fern, everyone exclusively refers to them with they/them pronouns, it will never be elaborated upon narratively, they are a static character outside the main cast
Tee hee, I'm an anime girl who's actually a BOY. Have I mentioned I'm a boy today?
Critically acclaimed subplot where a trans man self actualises and then does nothing else for the entire rest of the series. Everyone has long serious talks about his identity in vague terms that are perfectly useless for anyone to reflect on themselves or relate to him in any way whatsoever.
Critically acclaimed story about the tragedy of a 40-year-old trans woman who's so, so brave. Just so incredibly brave. The cis man playing her sacrificed so much of his dignity for this role where he put on a wig and said "respect my choice to live my truth".
Today on Copaganda we ask the important question: Is the murdered sex worker in the wrong sometimes? It's complicated, because penis.
This entire story is a metaphor for transness but somehow not a single trans woman had creative input on it, so we're sitting here awkwardly trying to find a way to bring up how That scene sort of undermined the message of tolerance and inclusion. Not one character has literally transed their gender
"Wuuuh whaaa why is Fern a problem?"
Because Fern is treated as a substitute for representation of nonbinary experiences in general. Fern has always been Fern, their pronouns have always been they/them, and that means as far as the story is concerned they are effectively a cis nonbinary person.
They have never transitioned beyond what the audience has to infer from the fact that they exist and use they/them pronouns. The same trans representation for someone using she/her pronouns literally would not register as trans rep, because she would just textually read as a cis woman.
One Fern is whatever. Many Ferns across multiple pieces of media, consistently treated as sufficient representation, become a problem. Trans "representation" without transition.
Defanged. Nonthreatening. Easy to pretend you didn't even notice. Decoupled from having been born, having been expected to be one gender and then actually being another.
Nonbinary people deserve better representation than that.
person who assumes maleness as default and refuses to interrogate this: yeah this character has no gender, they're just a little Guy
you literally could not even make it past word two before calling me a man
1. this is not true
2. âiâm not misogynist iâm just a fan of the mcelroy brothersâ ?
attempting to slay the male defaultism hydra with my "its misogyny" sword but every time I cut off one excuse two more (frankly increasingly bizarre) excuses take its place
I stg if I see one more person talk about how the Olympics banning transfems from competing is bad for cis women I'm going to explode. Do you even care about us.
cis women are a huge portion of the people doing this to us. They are responsible for it happening. Why do they get to be the victims?
Why are you defending such posters. Nobody asked you to, and it was entirely unnecessary. Shut the fuck up and less transfems talk about our oppression. Your whole post (most of which I cut out) was just mansplaining to me what these posters were doing as if I, the person talking about them and directly affected by their rhetoric, did not understand.
Yeah, they're trying to persuade cis people who don't care about transfems. That is the problem. Transphobic cis people are not viable allies in transfeminist liberation. Why do you want them as allies so desperately.
Do not search for this reply to harass this dude, if I see anyone do that I will block them.

At the risk of vagueing too specifically, Iâve become less sympathetic to the parasocial criticisms of egg culture after a certain someone on this site screenshotted a random trans woman on Twitter joking about her own friend being an egg and went on a rant about how evil to do this and a little âIâm perfectly secure in my identity and this would awful to say about meâ and then years later came out. Like it wasnt said aboit you and you werenât that secure in your identity but you still took it out on another transfeminine person and never apologized for it.
That situation has become emblematic of the âharmâ in egg posting to me. Itâs a lot of projection and internalized transmisogyny that gets taken out on already out of the closet transfems. Did the egg jokes âforceâ you into the closet, or did you cling to the closet by punching down at transfems already out of the closet? Youâre the ones making your shit other peopleâs problems, not the other way around.
I feel like in 99% of cases Problematic Media:tm: does not actually fucking matter & then Joanne is *personally* building the Trans Woman Death Laser with her marketable wizard money & it's like. Just this once yeah I think engaging with the marketable wizards *is* indicating something about your Moral Character
We can all yap about how being a Media Consumer isn't activism etc etc and that's all well and true but this one is actually a threat to people's rights so maybe we can do the bare minimum of, uh, growing the fuck up and having higher priorities than our personal nostalgia ? Something something white supremacist "right to comfort"
"I know officially it's not a planet but I want to call pluto a planet because I love it" yeah because that's what love is right it's when you don't care about basic facts about something and you just assign it cool-sounding labels arbitrarily
the authorâs poorly disguised unchallenged ideas about how the world works, what is natural, what should go without saying
or sometimes just: the author's increasingly blatant racism
transmascs benefit from transmisogyny
Men benefit from misogyny even while marginalized. Itâs almost like Black feminists been saying the same thing bout Black men for decades and Black men was crying bout destroying the sanctity of Black families like trans men cry about âinfighting and trans unityâ
The Combahee River Collective Statement (1977) on why Black men struggle to support Black feminism
The reaction of Black men to feminism has been notoriously negative. They are, of course, even more threatened than Black women by the possibility that Black feminists might organize around our own needs. They realize that they might not only lose valuable and hardworking allies in their struggles but that they might also be forced to change their habitually sexist ways of interacting with and oppressing Black women. Accusations that Black feminism divides the Black struggle are powerful deterrents to the growth of an autonomous Black womenâs movement.
Tumblr user spyrothesquish-0006 (2005)
Yeah if Black men benefit from misogynoir there's no reason to believe that trans men don't benefit from transmisogyny.
The fact both Black cis men and white trans men sit there and cry about how feminism "divides" the struggle in the same way white cishet men say feminists hating on men "isn't helping their cause" is not coincidence.
It's always the same kind of nonsense excuse for it too. "I face hardship too! And you're ignoring that!"
And it's like...no? I'm literally just centering women instead of you because the stakes are much higher, at least, in reality where the rest of us are. Trans women face more violence and that's doubly true for Black trans women. That is a fact. We are not "all equally out of the frying pan and into the fire"
Trans women of color, who are among the most likely targets of violence, see statistics that reflect their reality co-opted to bolster the idea that all women are facing the same level of danger. Yet support from mainstream white feminists for the issues that directly impact trans women has been at best minimal, and often nonexistent.
- Mikki Kendall, Hood Feminism
And now trans men are co-opting this statistics too? So that they too can pretend we all face the same level of danger?
That's transmisogyny!!!
Decentering Black women has never helped Black women either and as an anti-racist I see no reason to keep doing that.
Thinking otherwise just to save yourself?
That's privilege!!!
And guess how often trans men center trans women of color đđ
What's worse? The entitlement. That extra layer of privilege. Expecting trans women and especially Black trans women to decenter their actual lived realities in exchange for validating the feelings of trans men.
And to that I say if you're so worried about whatever issue(s)you're facing (racism, transphobia, classism, etc) then you should center women in that struggle too, we all know they're facing more danger than men are.
To quote The Combahee River Collective Statement again:
In âA Black Feministâs Search for Sisterhood,â Michele Wallace arrives at this conclusion: We exists as women who are Black who are feminists, each stranded for the moment, working independently because there is not yet an environment in this society remotely congenial to our struggleâbecause, being on the bottom, we would have to do what no one else has done: we would have to fight the world. [2] Wallace is pessimistic but realistic in her assessment of Black feministsâ position, particularly in her allusion to the nearly classic isolation most of us face. We might use our position at the bottom, however, to make a clear leap into revolutionary action.
If Black women were free, it would mean that everyone else would have to be free since our freedom would necessitate the destruction of all the systems of oppression.
And therein lies proof of yet another way trans men utilize their privilege: asking for the attention, time, and labor of women who's freedom will not be won by fighting for the rights of anyone but women.
What's worse? When you disagree with those transmascs they paint you as a petty, hateful feminazi/radfem who just hates men and loves causing community discourse!!
That's transmisogyny!!
Anyway.
The oppression of transfemmes isn't build on the oppression of transmascs so liberating transmascs won't lead to the liberation of transfemmes. But the oppression of transmascs is built on the same systems that oppress trans femmes.
We should all have solidarity with one another through the structures of oppression we face whether it be race, transphobia, class, ableism, colonization, etc.
And that solidarity should also stretch into allyship and understanding where it intersects with the structures we don't face. We should be uplifting those of us who face the highest levels of persecution and violence.
Likewise this kind of praxis should lead us all right back to the conclusion that the Combahee River Collective came to. The common denominator is Black women. Thats who we need to be uplifting and fighting for.
Black intersex women, Black trans women, Black indigenous women, Black immigrant women, Black disabled women, etc.
Black women are capable of facing every single intersection of oppression and it's Black women who face the highest rates of violence across nearly all of those intersections and I'm saying this as an Ojibwe two spirit who knows better than to act like a afro-indigenous women don't exist.
If Black women were free to be Black, to be women, to be disabled, trans, fat, old, intersex, to be indigenous, etc then we all would be free to be those things.
If all Black women were safe, all the rest of us would be, too.
Can the same be said of liberating transmascs? I didn't think so.
The fact transmascs demand to be centered just because they are trans is proof of their privilege, transmisogyny, and ignorance as men who fear what transfeminism means to their privilege of constantly being centered. You know, rather than seeing transfeminism as a liberation movement that would eventually lead us all to safety.
FUCK this was satisfying to read thank you so much.

Why aren't we talking about the real reason male college enrollment is dropping? (Celeste Davis, Oct 6 2024)
"White flight is a term that describes how white people move out of neighborhoods when more people of color move in.
White flight is especially common when minority populations become the majority. That neighborhood then declines in value.
Male flight describes a similar phenomenon when large numbers of females enter a profession, group, hobby or industryâthe men leave. That industry is then devalued.
Take veterinary school for example:
In 1969 almost all veterinary students were male at 89%.
By 1987, male enrollment was equal to female at 50%.
By 2009, male enrollment in veterinary schools had plummeted to 22.4%
A sociologist studying gender in veterinary schools, Dr. Anne Lincoln says that in an attempt to describe this drastic drop in male enrollment, many keep pointing to financial reasons like the debt-to-income ratio or the high cost of schooling.
But Lincolnâs research found that âmen and women are equally affected by tuition and salaries.â
Her research shows that the reason fewer men are enrolling in veterinary school boils down to one factor: the number of women in the classroom.
For every 1% increase in the proportion of women in the student body, 1.7 fewer men applied.
One more woman applying was a greater deterrent than $1000 in extra tuition! (âŚ)
Since males had dominated these professions for centuries, you would think they would leave slowly, hesitantly or maybe linger at 40%, 35%, 30%, but thatâs not what happens.
Once the tipping point reaches majority female- the men flee. And boy do they flee!
Itâs a slippery slope. When the number of women hits 60% the men who are there make a swift exit and other men stop joining.
Morty Schapiro, economist and former president of Northwestern University has noticed this trend when studying college enrollment numbers across universities:
âThereâs a cliff you fall off once you become 60/40 female/male. It then becomes exponentially more difficult to recruit men.â
Now weâve reached that 60% point of no return for colleges.
As weâve seen with teachers, nurses and interior design, once an institution is majority female, the public perception of its value plummets.
Scanning through Reddit and Quora threads, many men seem to be in agreement - college is stupid and unnecessary.
A waste of time and money. Youâre much better off going into the trades, a tech boot camp or becoming an entrepreneur. No need for college. (âŚ)
When mostly men went to college? Prestigious. Aspirational. Important.
Now that mostly women go to college? Unnecessary. De-valued. A bad choice. (âŚ)
School is now feminine. College is feminine. And rule #1 if you want to safely navigate this world as a man? Avoid the feminine.
But we donât seem to want to talk about that."
very good tags from @downwarddnaspiral
literally saw this tweet this morning
I saw a dude say with his whole chest that biology isn't really STEM
Take a wild fucking guess as to which major has the most female students
Scientific disciplines with more women have lower funding success rates and researcher quality scores , are considered âsoft sciencesâ, and see average pay drop as women enter. This is BECAUSE women do them, not a function of women mysteriously choosing lower-prestige, poorly-paid fields.
tbh in my eyes this kind of thing is inexcusably pathetic like it's not cute it's not funny it's not forgivable it's misogyny plain & simple. if you can't connect with female characters as full people with thoughts & emotions you're a loser & i have no respect for you #notsorry
