— If it was a warmer day, I would obviously wear lightweight clothes, you know?
My father would look and say that wasn't proper clothing. He'd tell me to go home and cover up.
But the worst part was that he would still whisper in my mother's ear that I was being too forward, too provocative.
There came a point when I wore those overalls from gas station attendants, that way he would leave me alone.
— And he behaved like that with you until what age, more or less?
— I think until about 17-18 years old. Before I started college. He started to be more lenient because I was getting heavier too, right?
Then there was no more reason for him to bother me about the clothes I wore.
I understand him a little. There were a lot of men (at his workplace). And I wasn't malicious at all. I was kind of raised like a son.
— Raised like a son?
— My father just wanted to protect me. But he could have been more careful. Because I wasn't to blame for any of that.
— And when did you start noticing those different looks from the men who came to the store?
— I think I was about 12-13 years old. It was around the time I started flirting with the boys at school.
But I don't know if I noticed it on my own, or if it was because my father started to interfere.
But I thought it was really bad. Those guys looking at me like they were going to eat me with their eyes.
The insults destroyed me. It was a horrible time. I started to hate going there.
— Was your father's behavior like that all the time?
— No. Outside the store he was incredible. He went back to being the father he always was. After I gained weight he stopped insulting me.
But he never laid a hand on me, okay, Caio? Never. There was no physical aggression. It was just name-calling.
— And you don't think that was a type of violence?
— I think it would have been better if he had hit me. Pain from a slipper goes away. But the name-calling, the insults, they still hurt me today.
To keep my father more affectionate with me, to end the name-calling, the insults, I started eating.
— Eating or obeying your father?
— I think that's what I do. He told me to cover myself… I think that's what I still do today. I use food to cover myself… to hide myself?

it will be over soon
it will be over soon
it will be over soon
my brother and his wife will soon be moving into a house after living in a flat
me: what are you planning to do with that awkward dead space on the right?
brother: I'm not sure, maybe put a desk for me, but [sister-in-law's name] is complaining that the desk I already have would look awful there, that it's not the right color! we have to think of the colors!! [exasperated tone]
and internally I'm like why does it bother you that she's trying to make it look aesthetically coherent?
what is it with masculinity's disdain for home decor?
when he was still living alone, I stg his place looked like it could have appeared in a true crime documentary about a serial killer, squalor-core
it's amazing/concerning that his now-wife didn't turn around and run for the hills when she first set foot there
now watch her do all the work to make their house look like a home and him rolling his eyes the whole time while benefitting from her labor all the same
sister-in-law: I've been thinking about which colors we're going to paint those rooms, thankfully your brother isn't difficult, he's just like "whatever you want"
me, first clearing my throat to launch my rant: he IS being difficult by not giving any input, all the work and responsibility is on your shoulders

Baptiste Beaulieu: INFP

I'm annoyed every time I see those cans
why don't they stick to a coherent branding for the zero versions?
Sprite
regular: white logo
zero: black logo
okay then let's commit to this vision and do that white-black shift for the other drinks as well! but no!
Coke
regular: white logo
zero: white logo as well! but that wavy thing underneath turns black, so there is some black to be fair
alright so black is what distinguishes the zero brand, so Fanta zero must have some black too right? no!
Fanta:
regular: white letters, blue background, orange can
zero: blue letters, white background, half orange half white can
I like the Fanta dichotomy best so I'd align the Sprite and Coke lines on that design
but most importantly I would have a coherent pattern for the love of god, make it make sense

when they showed the trailers for Spider Man and Dune before The Odyssey I thought
guys it's hard to suspend disbelief when you remind us that multiple people in your movie are also in other movies (Zendaya is in all three!), I'll be seeing actors and not characters
wait.... did Tom Holland get cast in The Odyssey because Timothée Chalamet wasn't available? the latter was in Interstellar after all...
