"only 90s kids remember-" wrong, if you're poor and/or rural enough, old tech and fashion doesn't just disappear when it stops being trendy. We had dial-up until 2012
We had a Windows 95 desktop until 2015, on which we used floppy disks for school projects until the school stopped having the technology to access them.
My sisters were both born in the 90s, and I watched all the same cartoons and stuff they did. Tailspin? Watched it every Saturday morning until it stopped airing, and still have some episodes on VHS. The old Duck Tales? Same thing.
I remember being in high school in 2017 and seeing all my classmates mystified by this mysterious piece of technology the teacher was using. It was a VCR. Something which I had at home. The teacher actually gave me 5 points extra credit for knowing what it was called.
We didn't have any game systems newer than the PS2 ever, but we had 6 different Plug n Plays, something which most kids my age growing up did not even know existed.
I relate much more to "90s kid" things than I do to early 2000s.
ADHD memory is so weird. I can't remember the last time I showered unless I write it down, even if it was that same day, but I can tell you that Devin from my second grade class stole my Littlest Petshop frog on the playground at the bottom of the third red slide from the left while wearing a purple sweater 18 years ago with perfect recollection.

there's a fine line between being wary of manipulation and becoming completely paranoid because you get very close to the realisation that pretty much all human interaction involves doing things we hope will lead to a result we like
this post is about a lot of things. it's about my ex saying it was manipulative to talk to them in a cute voice because that influenced their emotions. it's also about someone on this webbed site saying being funny is "engagement farming". like yeah every single conversation you have is going to be "manipulative" if your standard for that is "did something with the goal of eliciting a response". if that bothers you go live in a hut in the forest and speak only to the trees. I'll be over here manipulating my friends into being happy by giving them compliments
saw a post about this earlier but it made me think: tumblr really is the only social media site where I go on and have a good time and then carry on with my day. I know it's completely curated because there are some awful people here but that (the curation) in itself is a privilege of the site. Every other social media site is designed to make you angry for more engagement
