Did you ever finish the medieval penicillin recipe?
I did! At the time I wrote the first half I was stuck at purifying/filtering the resulting penicilin, but I did work out a solution eventually.
The problem was that by the time I did, the post blew up, ended up on Tiktok, and there were people talking about actually MAKING it. For consumption.
I think I felt something close to what Oppenheimer did when watching the bomb drop. Tiktok has stupid challenges all the time, amd with the recent dissolution of healthcare in america and a worrying amount of influencers talking about mixing your own toothpaste, I shuddered to think what people would do with a penicilin recipe that LOOKED viable, even though I have repeatedly stated this was written at a sciFi-level of science.
I certainly didn't ever make penicilin the way I described. And the last thing I wanted was to have even one person getting poisoned because of me.
So I haven't posted the rest of the penicilin recipe and I never will, because science also means learning from the mistakes of others.
Prev, you should try the manga Jin where a surgeon is time-displaced in feudal Japan and does reinvent penicillin from memory. There wasn't even a "don't try it at home" warning in it!
