friend who went to bed is a type of dead wife
having sex with your friends is so very normal please stop poisoning the youths minds with shame surrounding hooking up with your friends. especially if you’re gay
people are so fucking mad in the notes that adults have sex with each other and aren’t married sometimes. yall are carbon copies of your conservative parents and you’re so proud of it. ewwww
calling the sex I have with my friends “hookup culture” is insulting and incorrect. these are guys who take care of me and take me on dates and watch fun movies with me. being a disabled faggot too, they help me clean my place and take my trash out for me. they care for me and are on my emergency contact lists. trying to slap the label of “todays hookup culture!!!” on it is diminishing and devaluing those relationships
secondly, gay and bi men have been fucking all their friends and cruising and hooking up with total strangers since LLOOONGGGG before you were born and will continue doing so LLOOONGGG after you die. it’s never been a trend or a fad for us. It’s just a way of life for some of us and you aren’t going to change that by being disgusted by it
this tag has me in stitches

The problem is that the difference between a show full of queerbaiting, a great will-they-won’t-they, and groundbreaking qpr rep is not nearly as big as it should be
every day of my life i read someone being like “why doesn’t this story just solve the problem immediately and casually? they just drag it out and make it an issue” well. because that’s the Story
“Because the truth is, tech doesn’t have an image problem. It doesn’t have a message problem. It has an intention problem. What’s wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasn’t successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. What’s wrong is that he’s trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product that’s designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isn’t that you haven’t told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them.”
— The 40 Most Rage-Inducing Problems in Tech
Dahling you simply must read this book! It’s all about this devious little caterpillar who simply gorges himself on all manner of divine things
actually pigs shouldn't be at pride even outside of uniform. fuck those guys
if you decide to become a police officer then that outweighs any other marginalised identity you can rustle up like. not sorry, who asked you to willingly become a pig
I have heard of black people warning their kids that the race of a police officer is cop and you should not expect solidarity from them. The same applies to other types of minorities.
The sexuality of a police officer is cop.
The gender of a police officer is cop.
When you become the enforcer and protector of capital, you are making the deal to be slightly favored by the system over others like you, in exchange for being its servant. Your solidarity is with the system that you serve, even if it hates you.
If you want solidarity with those the system hates, you cannot be the system's servant and defender.

what i really need right now is an andy who didn't leave in paris and who - thanks to the collapse of her private life - only doubles down on completely shaping her life around miranda, and a miranda who - thanks to the events of paris and the rest of the film - begins to treat andy more like a human being than a tool with a pulse, resulting in the clash that comes from andy now being one of the few people miranda doesn't want to simply use, and andy being maybe the only person in the world (besides maybe emily?) who wants miranda to use her
Love watching femslash gifs on tumblr it’s like going to a fancy sushi place where the chef cuts only the gayest morsels out of a huge nasty heterosexual tuna and serves them right into your mouth like a momma bird.
Hey someone suggested I use ChatGPT to figure out adulting today, and as I was going through the mental list of places I'd rather look, I realized "beloved strangers on Tumblr dot net" was on that list.
So if you have an aspect of adulting that you're really good at-taxes, budgeting, cooking, insurance, credit, time management, house upkeep, anything-please feel free to reblog with any tips.
Not me, but @bitchesgetriches has a lot of great resources for many of these topics on their website.

Male socialization is such an evil rhetoric. Yeah I guess not transitioning at the age of 5 is my fault and I'm evil for it. Yeah I guess not having the childhood I wish I did means I'm a danger and I should perpetually apologize for it
"The fact that socialization is a specious argument became obvious to me during an exchange I had with a trans-woman-exclusionist who insisted that my being raised male was the sole reason in her mind for me to be disqualified from entering women-only spaces. So I asked her if she was open to allowing trans women who are anatomically male but who have been socialized female — something that’s not all that uncommon for MTF children these days. She admitted to having concerns about their attending. Then, I asked how she would feel about a person who was born female yet raised male against her will, and who, after a lifetime of pretending to be male in order to survive, finally reclaimed her female identity upon reaching adulthood. After being confronted with this scenario, the woman conceded that she would be inclined to let this person enter women-only space, thus demonstrating that her argument about male socialization was really an argument about biology after all. In fact, after being pressed a bit further, she admitted that the scenario of a young girl who was forced against her will into boyhood made her realize how traumatic and dehumanizing male socialization could be for someone who was female-identified. This, of course, is exactly how many trans women experience their own childhoods."

This is probably a good way to get myself blocked by people, but I have such a problem with how normalized it's become for fanartists to have a Patreon and lock so much of their art behind a paywall. It's not about copyright infringement. Like whatever, I don't care about that. It's about the fact that it goes against what fandom is supposed to be about. It takes something that's supposed to be about freely sharing and turns it into a business proposition. Fandom is supposed to be a gift economy, where we do this for the community and social bonds it brings, where we give generously with no expectation of getting compensated for it.
And beyond that (and at the risk of sounding petulant), it's not fair. Imagine how much (justified) shit a writer would get for posting like, the first paragraph of a fic and then going, "To read the rest of this, first subscribe to my Patreon!!" I'm not saying I have any desire to make money off of fanfiction. I don't. But I do think it's strange that the labor of not only writing but of gif making and fanvid making and writing meta and even commenting and reblogging, all these things that make up the backbone of a fandom, is done for free, and fanart has become a thing where it's almost expected that every artist will have a Patreon and lock much of their art. I really hate it, if I'm being honest.
By the way, for everyone who is tempted to believe the "Well, I HAVE to put NSFW art on Patreon, because nowhere else allows it" excuse, 1. even if that was the case, it is possible to have a free tier on Patreon, and 2. you can post fanart on AO3, which as a nonprofit org specifically dedicated to protecting the legality of fanworks, including NSFW fanworks, is a much safer place for it long-term anyway. Dreamwidth and Pillowfort are also fan-friendly sites that have expressed a commitment to allowing creators to post NSFW art. And there are probably more that I don't know about.
#I have been wanting to talk about this for AGES#this is actually the first and only fandom where ive actually felt this issue so prevalently#bc what do u mean last year we were number 2 on ao3 for posting SO MANY FICS (all of which are free) literally thousands upon thousands#but we have what? 5 well known fanartist who have 97% of their work behind a paywall on patreon#just because its legally allowed، doesn't mean it aligns with what fandoms have always stood for#I would never even want to make money from fics even if I thought my writing was worth paying for. i dont even lock them only for ao3 users#ai farmers be damned. id rather keep my work accessible. they've already scraped off most of our shit to train ai anyway#but the way most of the fanart in this fandom is on patreon has always left a bad taste in my mouth#sell stickers. prints. pins. posters. but id never pay to LOOK at fanart even if i had the means to spend that kinda money#feel free to block me for this <3
@buckframe I hope you don't mind me bringing this out of the tags, and if you do, but this also raises a good point. Because yeah, 911 fandom is one of the worst I've personally encountered about this too, and I've also noticed that the artists that do this don't tend to interact with the rest of fandom very much. They don't reblog much (or any) fic or gifsets or meta or even other art. They don't leave comments on other people's work or scream in the tags. They aren't engaging with the fandom. They are literally just here to sell us their product, not to participate in the community.
It's the equivalent of coming into a potluck and setting up a booth where people have to pay to eat your food. That's not what we're doing here.
And if I may be a real bitch now, if you are currently subscribed to the Patreon of one of the artists I'm describing, I would suggest you ask yourself whether your money might be better spent either commissioning art or buying prints/merch from an artist who actually is part of this community, or giving your money to OTW instead, to help protect fanartists of all kinds.
