Many of you will be shocked to hear that the Canadian government was not willing to give me a couple-million-dollar grant to sit on my ass and see if I could accidentally discover something important to humanity in the middle of playing MAME ROMs all day. I feel like I put in a really good application â it even had a hand-drawn nude Ms. Pac-Man in the margins of the cover letter â but they simply did not want to hear from someone who was not already part of the scientific establishment.
What I'm trying to say is this. If you're on the Nobel Prize selection committee, wouldn't it be funny to pick some random asshole? Super Mario All-Stars contains a debug mode for Super Mario Bros. 3 in its code, which can be activated either deliberately by setting a single address in memory to a specific value (e.g. via a cheating device) or, curiously, by complete accident simply upon starting the console (as explained in my video here).
Two of the functionalities of the debug mode is the ability to swap between power-ups at the press of a button, and the ability to enter "free movement" mode whereby Mario slides freely around the screen in all directions instead of needing to walk.
If the free movement mode is activated while Mario is in specific animations, and then the power-up is changed during it, his sprite may become jumbled. While normally, the sprite simply changes to other parts of Mario's sprite sheet, a particularly amusing change occurs when swimming as Frog Mario and then swapping to Fire Mario while in free movement. This will make Mario assume a big "25" graphic alongside bits and pieces of his body.

This is a horrifying pattern we are becoming numb to, we hear about a planned test launch and brace ourselves for more debris.
Several of Musk's attempts at rockets, especially after the deregulation, have resulted in catastrophic explosions. Want the list? Here are a few!!
December 9th, 2020- Starship serial No. 8, or SN8. Exploded upon landing.
February 2, 2021- Starship SN9. Exploded upon landing.
March 3rd. 2021- Starship SN10. Landed in one piece. Fire at the skirt caused an explosion.
April 20, 2023- Starship. Exploded once more. Debris scattered in Port Isabell.
March 6, 2025- Flight 8. Spun out of control and exploded in a mass of fireballs. Planes had to be grounded due to the mass explosion and the debris are stills scattered in the ocean.
And now we have the most recent and the worse one yet.
June 18-19, 2025- Starship 36 during a GROUND test caused a mass explosion, the looming mushroom cloud causing locals in Cameron to believed they had been bombed.
