Carmine and Kieran were both incredibly young still when they moved from Lumiose City to Kitakami to live with their mom and her parents. It was the only place they ever knew as home.

Corbeau…knew he wasn’t cut out to be a father, though he knew that was no excuse. He could admit that he didn’t try as hard as he could’ve to build a relationship with his kids.

At the very least, he still paid child support, but never sent letters or made phone calls to his children as they grew up. Carmine especially resented him for that.

Corbeau was a sore subject with her. She couldn’t understand why he didn’t want to reach out at all. Kieran didn’t remember him at all, so it didn’t bother him as much as her.

Today was a terrible day. A Scarcrow attack on his University in second period. A Joker attack during fifth period. A Bane attack on his way to and from school. And now he was stuck as an unwilling contestant in the Riddler's latest game. The Riddler, who kept talking and talking and talking into the camera, broadcasting this to the entire city, and possibly the world if anyone outside of Gotham cared to tune in. Danny was kinda just... blankly staring at the ground, mentally calculating how many fucks he had to give at the present moment to decide if he should just phase out and fuck off to go back to his dorm and catch some Zs.

At least he had been, until the Riddler suddenly demanded his attention by stealing his lanyard with his school ID front and center, the grown ass man grinning to himself like a satisfied child who thought bullying made him cool(no that particular thought was not personal at all why would you even say that) Only to pause with a look of increduality that was shown even through the eye mask.

The Riddler turned his attention back to the young man with soulless eyes. His voice was low but clear, and so was the disbelief in his tone. "Is your middle name seriously Danger?" The young man, probably a college student, chuckled to himself. "Aren't my parents hilarious?"

Branch was the only troll left behind, slingshotting his hair to Bridget's shoulder after he confirms they aren't going to eat them at the moment. He isn't sure what he can do, but he's the only troll capable of negotiating at all or making any decision. His twenty years of experience being grey for once being a benefit, as all the others are still in shock from turning grey to begin with and crushed by the overwhelming feeling it brings. He has to do something to convince the bergans they were wrong, else the entire village will die.

Some of them wonder if this is how Branch feels all the time and how he manages to keep going despite it.

On Branch's side, he basically takes over leading the village in a way. Although it's more like him herding a bunch of lethargic sheep from place to place and making sure everyone eats, sleeps, washes, etc. and taking to Gristle about how best to help them. The fact that Branch is doing this alone does help a bit. Some of the younger trolls start to become more active, and Peppy, in particular, keeps staring at him during his talks with the bergans.
