The zombies don't typically bite or eat people but the virus is expressed through sweat glands so they want to be touched. They congregate to places that would normally be crowded and get close to uninfected people making skin to skin contact until the virus has spread to everyone before they disperse to other areas. It's not violent, it doesn't draw much attention, it's effective. They don't like to be alone, but they don't acknowledge other infected. So they roam around far apart and call for help. The virus doesn't live for long without human hosts. It can ambulate a human host without food or water for at least a month. It has preservative properties which keep people from visibly deteriorating from constant movement and lack of nutrition but it's not know for how long. It cannot heal wounds so it amplifies certain "survival" instincts that keep the host from harm. Those that are infected are extremely afraid of heights (Like how rabies causes extreme hydrophobia). And they avoid rough natural terrain. Survivors travel in groups to mountain ranges. They only know that infected are afraid of heights and rocky areas, they don't know that they seek out crowded areas at first. So roads and transit areas are the biggest sites of infection. Shooting the infected aerosolizes the virus so early attempts to treat this as a "zombie" situation, only spread it faster. Smaller groups of survivors take different routes and try to converge at a safe destination. People want to help each other so it's hard to ignore the calls at first. Survivors have to find new ways to ask for help when it's not safe to actually say it. The main group is led by a rugged outdoorswoman played by Marlee Matlin.

Before I discovered that the mobile Firefox browser had extensions (other browsers gave me the wrong impression that you couldn’t install extensions to mobile browsers) I could only listen to certain ASMR channels while trying to fall asleep, because if their channel had ads enabled I would get interrupted every 10 minutes from peaceful audio to loud ass liberty mutual commercials. I also had to position my phone in such a way that I could hide the light from the screen without accidentally causing the touch screen to go off and jump to a different video.
