My library does “stuffed animal sleepovers” where kids leave their stuffed animals at the library overnight. Then the staff lets teenagers in after-hours to arrange the stuffed animals into fun scenes and take a bunch of pictures for the library’s social media. And then the little kids come back the next day and get to see all the pictures of their stuffed animals reading, playing games, riding around the library on book carts, etc 🥹

thinking about when i started disco elysium, i was really lost as to how to get out of the starting room and eventually had to ask friends for help. i was completely bewildered because nobody i asked could explain why i was having so much trouble leaving the room. everyone claimed that the room had a door, but it just looked like an isolated hotel room bounded by a black void to me. i wound up slowly trudging around interacting with everything in the room and eventually died to the ceiling fan. i had been expecting the game to be kind of avant-garde and cerebral, so i kept an open mind and kept trying, desperately hoping to find some profundity in my fruitless search for a door that everyone insisted was there. only later did i learn that the game wasn’t meant to run on a 2011 imac and the door to the room hadn’t rendered

I played Elden Ring for a solid hour, having a great time but finding it a little odd but not entirely out of character that FromSoft had decided to put the weird haunted forest full of invisible ghosts carrying visible torches so early in the game. Felt more like a secret DLC area than something appropriate for the tutorial area.

It was only when I summoned my horse and he, too, was invisible that I came to realize that this is just what happens when you try to run a game that requires 12GB of RAM and an i5 chip on 8GB and a moldy Dorito.
