And it breaks my heart every time she comes over and sits on my couch with me, and tells me how bittersweet she feels every time a person sheâs invested YEARS worth of deep friendship and care into, too quickly fades out of her life because they found a New Romantic Partner.
Look. I understand the new relationship energy is one HELL of a drug, and I know having your brain flooded with 2000x the normal amount of dopamine makes you wanna chase the new partner with all your time and focus. Me too. AND. Look me in the eyes right now. Youâve GOT to realize that friends are not inferior to romantic partners. Friends are not âjust friendsâ. A true friend is worth committing to and investing in. For aroace people, close friends often are their chosen family, and, something something, did you guys watch the original Lilo and Stitch or not?
At least for my QPP, she deeply wants to be supportive of her friends pursuing all the love their lives can hold. And also, itâs continually painful, knowing that people who claimed to be forever-friends will haphazardly make promises like âoh nothing will change when I start dating, weâll always be BFFs!â, and she just has to watch their closeness fade away, knowing that no matter how much she communicates, most people arenât doing the work of deconstructing amatonormativity, so platonic relationships eventually get demoted.
Burn down everything for my (platonic) love. She deserves better. All aromantic and asexual and aroace people deserve better.

Chain of writing ideas from a discord server I occasionally post in:
1. Hm, got another writing idea from Bo Burnhamâs âWelcome To The Internetâ, of all things.
In my greek-mythology-focused urban fantasy WIP, I was already developing a worldbuilding detail where the gods have both a humanoid/biological presence, and a âmetaphysicalâ presence, the latter of which are kinda like cosmic fluids that can be influenced by (and influence in turn) events in the mortal world.
âŚIâve now decided that, terrifyingly, the Internet ALSO has a metaphysical presence in this way.
2. Essentially itâs a setup for the metaphysical side of the storyâs implied background conflict.
The protagonist is a writer who has writerâs block, and the gods basically send him on a full-on mental health journey because they think him actually pulling that off and finishing a book would hopefully help the rest of the mortal world.
âŚand part of why is because, due to stuff happening in the mortal world I wonât get into, Eris, in a metaphysical way, is getting absolutely swollen with power from two opposing angles, the Muse of History Kleio is also fighting back on that front, but by way of the internet is bleeding into Psyche (note that Psyche ONLY exists metaphysically in this universe, sheâs been subsumed into every human consciousness combined by this point in history). The result? Burnout. A lot of cases of it. And so Athena and other so-called âphilosopher godsâ are trying to find a smarter way to deescalate things
3. Expanding on this writing idea for my urban fantasy WIP. In this continuity, Psyche probably ascended to godhood roughly when humans reached mental modernity. By the modern day, pretty much the only way to contact Psyche is as a vague understanding by aspects of a personâs Self that they are, in fact, fragments of Psyche. This can cause some real mindfucks if the topic of Psyche comes up while attempting to self-administer positive self-talk during Guided Imagery.
4. Writing idea expanding on this (long chain, I know):
The protagonistâs Aspect of Self/Fragment of Psyche starts slowly becoming a reflection of his own vicarious grief, basically a reflection of the collective time the world has lost and the collective mental health damage the world has accrued, and so Psyche almost starts acting like an apparition of vicarious loss.

My ancestors: âOur child heals well. He lives in an era where mental health sciences have advanced so far that he can afford *not* to let the weight of the world crush his spirit completely, he can afford *not* to be addled by cognitive dissonance and to some extent baggage if he sets his mind to it. He develops deep platonic feelings for *one* friend, and suddenly his tendency to autopilot through life is *G-O-N-E*, and he can see the little joys in his life so much more clearly, and injustices toward him directly that wouldâve caused him to feel outrage before now merely sent his mind into planning a more diplomatic response. Is this how the cycle of abuses we faced for millennia ends? With mental health sciences as he knows it informing the world that the cycle of abuse *CAN* be broken?â

2018 - My ancestors, watching me work three part-time jobs to help pay for college, graduate with a masters degree but take orders and serve coffee in a retail establishment, living in a three bedroom rental home with four other college students, applying for over 200 jobs and receiving less than ten call backs, not even attempting to find a date because of emotional distress.
Our son, he suffers. Of fathers and mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers, of all those in our line. Our lives have meant nothing. He is another son of our line destined to toil for scraps and the barest hope of better.

2021 - My ancestors, watching me lay my head down on my boyfriendâs chest while we lay underneath a thick wool blanket in an apartment lit by twenty candles, as he looks through multiple options of music, shows, and movies, after I spent the day driving around to purchase new running shoes to replace my old ones, browsed through a section of fiction books finding the last book of my current series, purchased new acrylic paint because Iâm missing the color I need, decorated my living room with new frames to replace the old, broken ones I recently had, all completed using excess money post-bills from a paycheck I receive bi-monthly.
Our son is a king in our line. Look at his growth. Look at what he has weathered. He stands upon a mountain of his own labor and heartache amidst the treasure of his own making. He is blessed beyond our greatest desires.
Funny writing idea: challenge the idea of amatonormativity by creating a âwill-they-wonât-theyâ scenario where the characters arenât romantically nor sexually involved, but merely stradding the line between platonic and alterous attractionâŚ
âŚWith the climax involving (gasp) hand-holding thatâs utterly platonic because the characters involved agreed that it is!

A metaphor for my aegosexuality: itâs like making a thanksgiving-style turkey. I may fantasize about turkeys, I may look at pictures of turkeys, but as soon as I look at a recipe, the steps are absolutely daunting. Even if I find someone to help me actually pull it off, itâs still daunting due to all the communication!
And for what purpose is this turkey being prepped? To make a banquet the likes of which my locality might remember fondly for decades? No, thatâs even more daunting than just making the turkey!
The real goal is just a massive supply of turkey and cheese sandwiches for me and my hypothetical cooking partner.
And at that point, the process is a lot more worth it if my cooking partner helps me find other ways to enjoy it, like focusing on the heat of the oven, or the sound of their voice, or how much they *love* those sandwiches, because the sandwiches themselves on their own arenât really worth it to me lol
