Goode actually reverses the car with her wheels turned left. She stopped with the car pointed at the cop, turns her wheels more or less straight, and then moves forward.

So he didn't step in front of the car.

And, of course, you cannot know what he was thinking, you can only assume, based on the conclusion you already wanted to reach.

However, I don't think it's logical to expect him to tell the exact direction the car was moving within the fractions of a second he had to act.

Nor do I think it's logical to expect him to dive out of the way. Which would take a lot more time, relatively speaking, than drawing his gun and trying to tell her to stop.

Also, if someone is trying to drive away from the cops when they're trying to detain that person, the cops are supposed to try and stop them. That's literally the job.

If someone is driving toward a cop, and is about to hit them, the cop is not, in fact, morally obligated to ignore that person and let them get away.

As a cop, it's his job to stop someone who's trying to flee arrest.

When her reverse lights go off, meaning she shifted out of reverse, the cop is already visible in front of her car to the camera.

Which means he was in clear view of her position, and she still drove at him.

I suspect if I asked the (non-US) cops I know "hey, if you're on duty and you're in front of a car and someone deliberately drives at you, would that be considered use of deadly force on their part?", they'd say yes.
