Does no one realize how racist this assumption can be? Most LLMs are trained heavily on Commonwealth and other standardized English corpora, yet now when people from Commonwealth countries naturally write in polished English, others immediately say it “sounds AI-generated.”
I fear this is the beginning of a really awful trend that will make it even harder for non-white writers to get published.
I mean, people say everything is AI generated, it's enrichment for them. AI-detecting tools can't work (at the same "tech tier") because if the AI knew how to identify AI-isms it would know to avoid them. Those tools have a massive false positive rate but as long as they spit out the "it is okay to get upset and demand blood" result people will trust them.
AI isn't haunted and doesn't convey spiritual contamination upon the words themselves. If it's full of slop-isms presumably that's bad writing on its own. The sample metaphors sound terrible and I feel like "why did you award this story that's nonsensical" is more relevant than "why did you award a story haunted by AI ghosts."
