surprisingly forward-thinking of jim henson and co. to make a female character in the 70's that's allowed to be loud-mouthed and violent and kind of overwhelmingly romantic and even a huge bitch at times and not have a moment where any character asks her to change

going through all the muppet movies in a row made me realize that like. miss piggy was made in the 70's. and it's so rare even today to have a character like her. she's loud, she's selfish, she's funny, she's extremely vain, she's obsessed with romance, she's violent, she's kind of annoying, and there's not a single moment in any of these films where she's asked to tone down any of these personality traits. i am not joking when i say that miss piggy might be one of the best treated female characters ever written

you might be on to something, I've never heard Miss Piggy being called problematic either

​a man who has never denied himself anything meets a man who denies himself everything and the hedonist tries to lure the self-abnegator into succumbing to the pleasures of the flesh and succeeds but their rendezvous makes accidentally clear that true pleasure is derived from the perilous destructive nature of intimate connection and eventually true actual love and so we come to conclude that in fact the hedonist is the one who has never allowed himself anything true while the self-abnegator has never strayed from the path of his want and then they put them on ice skates and gave them sticks

I think at some point in time we need to sit down and start explaining to artist who want to make a career out of art that there are FAR more options than just "living off of commissions" and "posting my art online and praying I get paid for it".

There's also far more options than joining a specific, difficult to get into industry.

I rly like how if you look at ilya too long or just focus in on one feature he’s kind of ugly? kinda weird nose, forehead, brow, etc. but then you step back and watch him in motion and you’re like oh my fuckin goddddd that’s the hottest man I’ve ever seen in my life. further evidence that many intensely attractive people are a little ugly and that’s actually the secret to their hotness

the fact that cats don't really meow much in the wild and it's largely a noise they make to communicate with us is already delightful, but its much funnier when you realize humans parrot this sound back to cats to communicate with them. no one involved knows what this noise means, we're just chirping at each other. everyone who interacts with cats has basically created their own inter-species pidgin with that specific cat or group of cats.

We need to keep making 9/11 jokes until some corporation tries to jump in on the meme and gets promptly executed by the public

i’m sure it works for some people but the thought of marrying your high school sweetheart from your little hometown without ever experiencing anything without them sounds like a punishment for some unforgivable and inhumane act you carried out in a previous life
